Motter was added to the lineup for Monday's game against the A's

Motter was set to work as a reserve Monday, but he will join the starting nine in place of Nolan Gorman, who was scratched with tightness in his lower back. Motter will cover the keystone and hit ninth in Monday's batting order.

Gorman was scratched from the lineup Monday against the Athletics due to lower-back tightness, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

This back tightness has been a lingering issue for Gorman, who may need more days off down the stretch. Taylor Motter will start at second base and bat ninth as the Cardinals open a three-game series versus Oakland.

The Giants optioned Mathias to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Mathias went 2-for-10 with four strikeouts during his eight-day stay on San Francisco's major-league roster. Johan Camargo will fill his spot ahead of Monday's series opener against the Rays.

Frazier is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.

Frazier started five straight games after missing a few days with a thumb issue, but he racked up only three hits in 16 at-bats over that span, so manager Brandon Hyde decided to hold him out Monday. Jordan Westburg will cover the keystone in Frazier's place.

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said Monday that Albies is undergoing more testing on his left hamstring, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Albies was originally diagnosed with a mild hamstring cramp following his departure from Sunday's series finale against the Mets, but he is still feeling sore a day later and is not in the lineup for Monday's series opener versus the Yankees. Nicky Lopez will get the start at second base as Albies is further evaluated.

Kemp (personal) was activated from the paternity list Monday.

Kemp missed all of Oakland's weekend series against the Nationals following the birth of his child, but he has rejoined both the club and the roster and will be available moving forward.

Albies (hamstring) is absent from the lineup Monday versus the Yankees.

Albies was pulled from Sunday's series finale against the Mets due to cramping in his left hamstring. It's not a serious concern, but he'll grab some rest and treatment as the NL East leaders open a three-game set against the Yankees on Monday night in Atlanta. Nicky Lopez is playing second base and batting ninth.

McNeil went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over Atlanta.

The 31-year-old has had a difficult season -- one of many on the Mets -- but McNeil appears to be regaining the form that led him to a batting title in 2022. He's slashing .314/.375/.451 so far in August with a double, two homers, five RBI and nine runs through 13 games, numbers right in line with his performance last year.

Chavis went 2-for-4 in Sunday's win over the A's.

Getting the start at second base and batting eighth, Chavis put together his first multi-hit performance since May 28. The 28-year-old has seen a slight uptick in playing time following Luis Garcia's demotion, appearing in four games so far in August and going 4-for-12 with a walk and a run, but Chavis now sits behind jake Alu on the depth chart and isn't likely to move into a starting role down the stretch.

Estrada went 3-for-5 with a double in Sunday's extra-inning win over the Rangers.

Estrada led the way for the Giants with three hits but was left stranded each time. He now has five hits over his last two games and three multi-hit efforts in eight games since returning from a fractured left hand. The 27-year-old has primarily been hitting from the two or three spot in the lineup since returning to action and is now slashing .279/.333/.479 with 30 extra-base hits, 34 RBI, 47 runs, 18 steals and a 17:88 BB:K in 352 plate appearances.
