Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Getting start at third base

Brujan will start at third base and bat eighth in Friday's game versus the Nationals.

The utility player is getting the call at the hot corner as Emmanuel Rivera receives a day off. Brujan has gone just 2-for-23 in his first 16 games as a Marlin.

  • Alika Williams SS | PIT

Pirates' Alika Williams: Working as reserve infielder

Williams went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Thursday against the Brewers.

The 25-year-old was in the lineup for the 10th time this season, as he stepped in at second base while Jared Triolo shifted to third in place of a resting Ke'Bryan Hayes. Williams has at least one hit in all but one of his starts this season, but he remains a bench option for Pittsburgh despite hitting .323 (10-for-31).

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Activated from injured list

Atlanta activated Albies (toe) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Albies missed just the minimum 10 days with a fractured right big toe and will not require a rehab assignment before rejoining his teammates for a weekend series against the Guardians. The 27-year-old has put together a .317/.386/.492 slash line with two home runs and two stolen bases through his first 15 contests this season.

  • Edouard Julien 2B | COL

Twins' Edouard Julien: Belts two homers in win

Julien went 2-for-4 with two solo homers in Thursday's win over the White Sox.

Julien has shown good power early in the season with seven home runs and a .513 SLG, with three of those long balls coming in his past four contests. He's hitting just .213 and has a 31.9 percent strikeout rate, which is a marginal increase on his strikeout rate from last season.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Returns to action

India started at designated hitter and went 0-for-4 in Thursday's 5-0 loss to the Phillies.

India, who made his first appearance since Saturday after dealing with an illness, went hitless for the seventh time in the last nine contests. He entered the game in a 4-for-42 slump over the past 13 games.

  • David Fletcher 2B | ATL

Braves' David Fletcher: Outrighted to Triple-A

Fletcher was sent outright to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.

Fletcher appeared in five games for Atlanta after being selected from Triple-A on April 16, going 2-for-8 with two RBI. He will remain in the organization for now but has the ability to elect free agency. No corresponding move was announced alongside Fletcher's demotion, which may point toward a potential return from the IL for Ozzie Albies (toe) before Friday's game against Cleveland.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Placed on injured list

The Athletics placed Gelof on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a strained left oblique.

Gelof's injury caused him to be a late scratch from Oakland's lineup ahead of Wednesday's game, and it will now officially cost him at least another week and a half. The 24-year-old second baseman hadn't missed a start prior to Wednesday, though he's failed to make the most of his playing time, slashing just .196/.260/.337 with seven RBI across his first 101 plate appearances. Darell Hernaiz was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Sits against lefty

Lux is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.

With the Dodgers and Nationals concluding their series with a day game after a night game and with southpaw MacKenzie Gore on the bump for Washington, Lux is one of three lefty-hitting regulars who will get the afternoon off for Los Angeles. Lux will be joined on the bench by Max Muncy and James Outman.

  • Cavan Biggio RF | HOU

Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Sits against southpaw

Biggio is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Royals.

With the Blue Jays and Royals concluding their series with a day game after a night game and with a southpaw (Cole Ragans) on the hill for Kansas City, the lefty-hitting Biggio will get the afternoon off. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will step in for Biggio at the keystone.

  • Red Sox's Enmanuel Valdez: Out of Thursday's lineup

Valdez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game in Cleveland.

Valdez is getting a routine day off after starting at second base in each of the Red Sox's previous nine contests. David Hamilton will handle the keystone Thursday.
