Jared Triolo SS | PIT
Pirates' Jared Triolo: Removed due to back issue
The Pirates announced that Triolo was scratched from the lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Yankees due to low back discomfort.
The Pirates are viewing Triolo as day-to-day, but he could be a candidate to land on the injured list if he fails to make much meaningful progress by the middle of the week. Isiah Kiner-Falefa had been scheduled to receive a day off Sunday but was thrust into the lineup at shortstop as a result of Triolo's late scratch.

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Hitting bench Sunday
Sosa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.
Sosa will head to the bench after he started at second base in the first two games of the series. The 25-year-old has cobbled together a .200/.200/.360 slash line through 25 plate appearances on the season, and he could be at risk of losing playing time with Brooks Baldwin likely to see more reps in the infield with outfielder Mike Tauchman (hamstring) returning from the injured list Sunday.

Matt McLain 2B | CIN
Reds' Matt McLain: Remains on bench Sunday
McLain (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.
The second baseman was scratched from the starting nine the past two days due to hamstring tightness, and while the Reds won't attempt to rush him back for Sunday's series finale in Milwaukee, he could be available off the bench. Santiago Espinal will start at the keystone and bat second in place of McLain.

The first overall in the 2024 draft, Bazzana immediately showed off his 70-grade hit tool and could breeze through the system on his way toward the starting job at second base for the Guardians later this season.

Garrett Hampson SS | CIN
Diamondbacks' Garrett Hampson: Will remain in utility role
Hampson will continue in a utility role while Tim Tawa gets the majority of playing time at second base in place of the injured Ketel Marte (hamstring), Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports. "Yeah, I think we'll still put Garrett into that role of, you know, primary backup, occasional starting," Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said.
Hampson filled in for Marte on Friday when he was removed in the first inning of Arizona's 6-4 win over the Nationals. The club placed Marte on the injured list Saturday and called up Tawa for his MLB debut. Hampson entered Saturday's game in the ninth inning as a pinch runner for third baseman Eugenio Suarez.
