McNeil isn't starting Saturday's game against the Phillies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

McNeil started both games of Friday's twin bill and went 0-for-7 with three strikeouts. He'll get a breather Saturday while Luis Guillorme starts at third base and Jose Peraza starts at the keystone.

Kemp is the leading candidate to handle leadoff duties against right-handed pitching while Mark Canha (hip) is on the injured list, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The lefty-swinging Kemp has been on a surge at the plate, as he extended his on-base streak to 14 games by drawing a walk in Friday's loss to the Giants. He's also been highly successful in his limited opportunities at the top of the order this season, forging a .474 average and .521 wOBA across 26 PA in that spot. More chances atop the order could increase Kemp's run-scoring opportunities if he continues to get on base at a similar clip.

Biggio isn't starting Saturday's game against the Orioles.

Biggio had started each of the last nine games, but he went 0-for-7 with a run, a walk and a strikeout across his last two appearances. Santiago Espinal will take his place at the hot corner and bat eighth.

Mendick isn't starting Saturday's game against the Mariners.

Mendick has gone 1-for-16 with a run, three walks and five strikeouts across his last seven games, and he'll be out of the lineup for the second time in the last three contests. Leury Garcia will start at second base and bat eighth.

Short was recalled by the Tigers to serve as the 27th man in Saturday's doubleheader against the Astros.

Short will be available for both games of the twin bill, and he'll start at shortstop and bat ninth in Saturday's matinee. In five games with the major-league club earlier this year, he hit .273 with two runs, a stolen base, five walks and six strikeouts.

Chavis started at first base, batted lead off and went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 5-3 win over the Yankees.

Chavis was recently called up after the Red Sox placed Christian Arroyo (knee) on the injury list, and he's started both games since the promotion. He played second base Thursday and filled in for a slumping Bobby Dalbec on Friday. More significantly, he hit out of the top spot in the order for a second straight game with the Red Sox holding auditions for the leadoff spot.

Rojas went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 11-5 loss to the Padres.

Rojas manned right field for the first time in a week, as the Diamondbacks juggled the lineup while Ketel Marte works his way back from a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old Rojas has started 10 of the last 11 contests and could continue getting regular at-bats for the team with the worst record in the majors. There is little reason for veterans like Josh Reddick and Asdrubal Cabrera to take playing time from Rojas, who has already set a career high in plate appearances.

Rosario went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 8-7 loss to Minnesota.

The shortstop's first-inning homer snapped an 0-for-15 skid at the plate. Rosario was on a hot streak prior to his slump, but regression was likely inevitable. He's posted a .265/.319/.382 slash line with five home runs, 23 RBI, 37 runs scored and seven stolen bases across 257 plate appearances.

Arraez went 3-for-4 with two triples, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 8-7 win over Cleveland.

Arraez showed off some speed Friday with the pair of triples. He's gone 13-for-35 (.371) with three triples and two doubles in 10 games since he returned from a shoulder injury. The utility man has racked up a home run, 20 RBI, 27 runs scored, four triples and five doubles across 200 plate appearances. He's maintained a .295/.365/.386 slash line and should be a consistent presence in the lineup versus right-handed pitchers.

Marte (hamstring) ran the bases earlier in the day and is available off the bench for Friday's game against the Padres, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

Marte is absent from the starting nine for the second straight game after he exited Tuesday's game against the Brewers with left hamstring tightness. Given that he's available off the bench Friday, he figures to have a good chance of returning to the lineup Saturday.
