Marte (hamstring) isn't starting Friday's game against San Diego.

Marte exited Tuesday's game against the Brewers due to left hamstring tightness, and he'll be out of the lineup for a second straight game, even after Thursday's team off day. Josh VanMeter will start at second base while Pavin Smith shifts to center field.

Wong was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Wong was sent to the minors Saturday, but he didn't appear in any Triple-A games during the past week. The 26-year-old will now return to the major-league club after Justin Upton (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. In 17 games with the Angels this year, Wong has hit .184 with five RBI and two runs.

Lowe is not in the lineup Friday against the Angels, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Lowe started the past four games and will receive a day off after going 3-for-13 with a homer, two doubles, three RBI four walks and three runs. Joey Wendle will cover the keystone while Yandy Diaz and Ji-Man Choi work at third and first base, respectively.

India went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, three runs scored and a walk in Thursday's 5-3 win over Atlanta.

India scored three runs Thursday with the help of Nick Castellanos, who knocked him in all three times. India's doubles marked the third game this season where he's had multiple extra-base hits. The rookie has been a great addition to the Reds' offense, slashing .266/.380/.414 with 29 RBI and 31 runs out of the leadoff spot. In addition, he has power and speed ability, slamming six bombs while stealing five bases.

Albies went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Reds.

The long ball was his third in the last eight games and 12th of the year. Albies is slashing .297/.347/.527 through 23 games in June, adding six steals, 12 runs and 19 RBI to his ledger over that stretch.

Chavis went 0-for-3 with a walk in Thursday's 1-0 loss to Tampa Bay.

Chavis was called up when the Red Sox placed Christian Arroyo (knee) on the injured list. He not only took Arroyo's spot on the active roster, but he also took his roles as the second baseman and leadoff hitter. Chavis later moved to first base after Bobby Dalbec was removed for a pinch hitter.

Merrifield went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Thursday's 8-1 loss to the Yankees.

This was his sixth stolen base in June and his 21st in 22 attempts on the year. Merrifield is slashing a solid .272/.324/.403 with six home runs, 41 RBI and 45 runs scored across 321 plate appearances. He's seen time at second base and the corner outfield positions, but he's also remained a steady presence atop the batting order.

Frazier went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two additional runs and a walk in an 8-2 win over the Cardinals on Thursday.

The Pirates' leadoff man walked in the first, singled in the fourth and eighth and homered in the sixth, his fourth game reaching base four times this season. His three hits put him ahead of Nick Castellanos and back in the major-league lead though Castellanos has the edge in average .343 to .330. The homer was Frazier's fourth and second in the last three games.

Polanco went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base against Cleveland on Thursday.

Polanco continued his terrific month of June, stroking a single in the seventh and a double in the ninth. He also swiped a base following his seventh-inning knock, which is his sixth steal in seven opportunities. The 27-year-old has recovered from a slow start to the season to slash .305/.356/.524 in 20 games this month.

Hoerner (hamstring) said he is "on pace" in his recovery after facing live pitching during a bullpen session Thursday.

The team has yet to determine rehab assignment dates for Hoerner, but this is still good news. The 24-year-old will be evaluated in the next few days to see how his hamstring responds to the increased activity. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, Hoerner could head off on a rehab assignment next week. He was playing well before the injury with a .338/.405/.432 slash line through 21 games.
