India (ankle) is starting at second base and batting leadoff in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader with the Pirates.

After being hit in the ankle by a pitch Wednesday and exiting the contest early, India will be back in the lineup Thursday. The 26-year-old has produced just one hit in 15 at-bats so far in July, lowering his batting average to .204 on the season.

Drury went 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 8-3 extra-inning loss to the Mets.

After going just 2-for-19 over the prior six games, Drury snapped back to life at the plate and chipped in his second steal of the year for good measure. The veteran utility player is having a breakout campaign, slashing .270/.331/.524 through 293 plate appearances with a career-high 17 homers, 45 RBI and 50 runs.

Marte started at designated hitter and went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the Giants.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo continues to use Marte at DH, fearing the aggravation of a recent hamstring injury if the manager puts the player in the field. That fear was apparently at play in the ninth inning Wednesdary, when Lovullo removed Marte for a pinch runner after the DH singled home a run and became the tying run. Marte has not played in the field since June 21.

Arraez went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the White Sox.

Arraez delivered an RBI single in the second inning and managed to score multiple runs for the second time in his last three starts. He also extended his hitting streak to seven games, during which he's hit .500 with two RBI and six runs scored. Arraez is hitting .354/.425/.455 on the season -- good for a .388 wOBA and 157 wRC+.

Polanco went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and three RBI on Wednesday against the White Sox.

Polanco went yard in the fifth and seventh innings to bring his homer total on the season to 12. He's been on a power surge since returning from a back injury June 28, smacking five home runs across his last eight starts. Polanco owns a .338 wOBA and 122 wRC+ across 286 plate appearances on the season.

India had X-rays come back negative on his ankle after being hit by a pitch during Wednesday's game against the Mets, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

India was struck by the pitch to lead off the bottom half of the first inning and initially remained in the contest, but he was replaced by a pinch hitter in the following frame. The 25-year-old appears to have avoided a serious injury and should be considered day-to-day.

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Gonzales (heel) will shed his walking boot in 5-to-7 days, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Gonzales has been in a walking boot since late June, but he's been able to swing and play catch while in the boot recently. The 23-year-old will presumably be able to ramp up his activity level once he sheds his boot, but it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to game action.

Lowe (back) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday but will return to game action at the Triple-A level, which likely represents the final step in his recovery process. Although the 28-year-old is eligible to return to the Rays in mid-July, manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday that he doesn't expect Lowe to be activated until after the All-Star break.

Altuve isn't starting Wednesday against the Royals.

Altuve has recorded hits in each of the last five games and has slashed .429/.500/.667 with a homer, two doubles, four runs, three RBI and a stolen base during that time. However, he'll get a day off while Mauricio Dubon starts at second base and leads off.

Gorman isn't starting Wednesday against Atlanta, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Gorman has started against just one left-handed pitcher this year, and he'll retreat to the bench with southpaw Max Fried on the mound Wednesday. Tommy Edman is shifting to second base while Albert Pujols serves as the designated hitter.
