Castro went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's win over the Guardians.

Castro batted cleanup and did his part, driving in half of the Tigers' four runs. All three of his hits came against Cleveland starter Zach Plesac. Castro is now batting a robust .282 for the season, and with Spencer Torkelson toiling in Triple-A, the former should continue to see regular playing time at first base for Detroit.

India (lower leg) went 1-for-4 with a solo homer Tuesday in an 11-4 loss against Philadelphia.

In his first appearance since last Thursday's Field of Dreams game, India knocked a solo shot and struck out in his other three plate appearances. It was his eighth homer of the year and first in August. India hit second Tuesday, marking the first time the 25-year-old started and didn't hit leadoff since June 4 of last season, ending a streak of 159 straight starts atop the Reds' lineup.

Chavis is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Boston.

Chavis is 1-for-14 with six strikeouts over his past four contests and will take a seat Tuesday for the second time in Pittsburgh's last three games. Kevin Padlo will start at first base and bat fifth in the series opener versus the Red Sox.

Marte (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants.

Marte's injury prevented him from starting Monday, and it will keep him in a reserve role for at least another night. Manager Torey Lovullo downplayed the injury when asked, so Marte should have a chance to get back in there Wednesday.

The Red Sox activated Hernandez (hip) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports. He'll start at shortstop and bat seventh in his return to the lineup Tuesday in Pittsburgh.

Hernandez is finally back and ready for his first big-league action since June 7, when he suffered a right hip flexor strain. The 30-year-old should eventually settle into an everyday role in center field and push Jarren Duran to the bench, but Hernandez will make his return at shortstop while Xander Bogaerts (shin) is day-to-day.

Gorman is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Left-hander Kyle Freeland will start Tuesday's contest for the Rockies, so as is typically the case when a southpaw is on the mound, Gorman will open on the bench and Albert Pujols will serve as the Cardinals' designated hitter.

Polanco (knee) is not in the lineup Tuesday against Kansas City.

The infielder should be considered day-to-day after he hurt his knee on a slide Monday. Luis Arraez figures to be the everyday second baseman for however long Polanco is sidelined.

The Rangers recalled Mathias from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

Mathias will provide some extra infield and outfield depth for however long he sticks with the Rangers. He managed two hits in 16 at-bats with Milwaukee this season before heading to Texas in the Matt Bush trade.

Drury is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Drury went 1-for-14 (.071) with six strikeouts over his last three games, so manager Bob Melvin decided to hold him out for the first time since he was acquired by the Padres at the trade deadline. Wil Myers will enter the lineup in Drury's place.

Merrifield isn't in the lineup Tuesday against Baltimore.

It will be difficult to fit both Merrifield and Santiago Espinal, who's playing second base Tuesday, in the lineup every day now that George Springer's back in action. Merrifield has hit .250 with one RBI and one stolen base in nine games since joining the Blue Jays at the deadline.
