Nationals' Luis Garcia: Set for rehab assignment

Garcia (groin) will report to Triple-A Rochester to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Garcia said Sunday that he feels 100 percent recovered from the left groin strain that landed him on the IL on Aug. 15, so his main focus during the rehab assignment will be getting comfortable playing second base again. Prior to landing on the shelf, Garcia had been serving as the Nationals' everyday shortstop, but CJ Abrams is expected to occupy that position the rest of the season while Garcia settles in at the keystone, which has been Cesar Hernandez's domain.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Back in starting nine at DH

Marte (hamstring) will serve as the Diamondbacks' designated hitter and No. 3 batter in Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

He'll put an end to a six-game absence due to a left hamstring injury as he slots back in a non-defensive role. Because Marte already missed time earlier this season due to the hamstring issue, the Diamondbacks may not be inclined to rush him back into his everyday role at second base. Josh Rojas will man the keystone Sunday.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Collects four hits

Rodgers went 4-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBI in a 4-3 win over San Francisco on Saturday.

Rodgers snapped out of a 2-for-17 slump with his fourth four-hit game of the campaign, including a walkoff single in the 10th off San Francisco closer Camilo Doval. The 26-year-old got Colorado on the board with his third-inning double and added singles in the first, eighth and 10th. Despite the recent cold stretch, Rodgers is slashing a robust .329/.392/.457 across 18 August contests.

  • Luis Garcia 1B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Back to normal

Garcia (groin) said Saturday that he feels back to normal, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

He took grounders at second base and looked to be at full speed charging the ball, per Dougherty. Garcia is eligible to be activated Tuesday at Seattle.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Sitting out second game

Stott is not in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets.

Stott went 1-for-3 in an 8-2 loss during Game 1, with a double and a walk. Edmundo Sosa will fill in for him at shortstop in the nightcap.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Out against lefty

Lux is absent from the Saturday's lineup against the Marlins.

Lux will get his second day off in the last four games as the Dodgers will face a lefty on the mound Saturday. Lux has been consistent at the plate all season with an OPS of .810 -- a number that has been steadily rising over the past week.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Remains out Saturday

Marte (hamstring) is not in Saturday's lineup against St. Louis.

Marte made a pinch-hit appearance Wednesday, but he has not started a game since injuring his hamstring during last Sunday's contest versus the Rockies and leaving the game early. Prior to his injury, he had posted an OPS of just .541 over 50 plate appearances since the beginning of August.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Turning up heat at Triple-A

Turang went 2-for-4 with a home run and a season-high five RBI in a game with Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Power has never been Turang's calling card, but he seems to have found something in that department, as over his last 23 games with Nashville he recorded five doubles, six homers, 21 RBI and a .570 slugging percentage -- a mark far better than the .367 SLG he owns over his career. Turang has done all he can to earn a call-up to the big leagues, and a late-season promotion is not out of the question.

  • Nolan Gorman 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: On bench versus lefty

Gorman is out of the lineup for Friday's game at Arizona, Bally Sports Midwest reports.

Gormon is in the midst of a six-game hit streak during which he's gone 8-for-24 with a home run, three doubles, five RBI and eight runs, but he'll take a seat Friday with southpaw Tommy Henry pitching for the Diamondbacks. Albert Pujols will bat fifth as the designated hitter in the series opener.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

    Giants' Thairo Estrada: Sitting Friday

Estrada is not in Friday's lineup against the Rockies.

Wilmer Flores gets the nod at the keystone while Brandon Crawford starts at shortstop. Estrada is hitting .300 with two home runs and one steal in 40 at-bats this month.
