Luis Arraez 2B | SF
Marlins' Luis Arraez: Held out of Game 2
Arraez (ankle) won't start in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Arraez was also held out of the first game Wednesday, and he still has yet to appear in a game since injuring his ankle Saturday against Milwaukee. Xavier Edwards will start at second base and bat ninth while Arraez continues to heal.

Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH
Mets' Jeff McNeil: Sitting nightcap
McNeil isn't in the Mets' lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against Miami, Anthony DiComo of MLB.comreports.
McNeil will get a breather to close out Wednesday's activities after going 1-for-4 with an RBI during Game 1. Brandon Nimmo, Rafael Ortega and DJ Stewart will start across the Mets' outfield while McNeil sits.

Jose Fermin 2B | STL
Cardinals' Jose Fermin: Not in Wednesday's lineup
Fermin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.
Fermin is 5-for-18 with a walk and no extra-base hits in six games since being promoted from Triple-A Memphis in early September. The 24-year-old has seen more action of late with Nolan Arenado (back) shut down for the final stretch of the season, though it's Juniel Querecuto starting at third base Wednesday.

Luis Arraez 2B | SF
Marlins' Luis Arraez: Out for first game Wednesday
Arraez (ankle) remains out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Arraez had been set to miss Tuesday's contest before it was rained out and is not in there for the makeup game, either. He hasn't played since Sept. 23 because of a left ankle sprain, and it's not clear whether he might have a shot to participate in Wednesday's nightcap. Jon Berti is at second base and batting fifth for the first game.

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Returns to starting lineup
Marte started at second base and went 2-for-4 with walk, a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Tuesday's 15-4 win over the White Sox.
Marte did not play in Sunday's game due to an illness and was held out of the starting lineup Monday, although he entered that game as a pinch hitter. He's hit in five straight games when starting, going 10-for-20 with three home runs, a double, six RBI and seven runs scored. He's up to 94 runs scored, three shy of the career-high 97 he had in 2019. The Diamondbacks have five games remaining while competing for a wild-card spot, so Marte should be a lineup staple going forward.

Luis Arraez 2B | SF
Marlins' Luis Arraez: Out again with ankle injury
Arraez (ankle) remains out of the lineup Tuesday versus the Mets.
Arraez sprained his left ankle one week ago while taking pregame infield practice and then aggravated the injury Saturday when he slipped on the dugout steps in Miami. Jon Berti will play second base and fifth Tuesday at Citi Field.

Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT
Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Recalled from Indianapolis
The Pirates recalled Gonzales from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Gonzales is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, but he could get a start or two in the final week of the 2023 campaign. The 24-year-old middle infielder has struggled to a .216/.268/.353 batting line across his first 112 major-league plate appearances this season.
