  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Lifted with groin soreness

Gonzales was removed from Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks due to left groin discomfort.

Gonzales went 0-for-3 at the plate before being replaced at second base by Jared Triolo in the bottom of the sixth. Gonzales is currently being evaluated and an update on his status should come later Saturday night or Sunday.

  • Otto Lopez SS | MIA

Marlins' Otto Lopez: Getting night off

Lopez is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers.

Lopez started eight consecutive games after being activated from the injured list July 19, but he will get a breather Saturday. In his place, Vidal Brujan will bat eighth and play second base.

  • Jared Serna 2B | MIA

Marlins' Jared Serna: Going to Miami

The Marlins acquired Seran, catcher Agustin Ramirez and infielder Abrahan Ramirez from the Yankees on Saturday in exchange for infielder/outfielder Jazz Chisholm, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The trade boosts the dynasty value of all the position players heading to Miami, and both Ramirez and Serna in particular have better chances of eventually carving out everyday playing time down the road with the Marlins than if they had remained with the Yankees. Serna, a 22-year-old second baseman, packs a lot of pull-side pop in a small 5-foot-7 frame. He was 20 percent better than the average South Atlantic League hitter and slashed .253/.341/.444 with 13 home runs, 11 steals and a 15.3 percent strikeout rate in 88 games for High-A Hudson Valley.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Remains hot Friday

Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI in Friday's 6-4 victory versus the Orioles.

Bogaerts belted a big double in the sixth inning, driving in Manny Machado to give San Diego its first lead. The second baseman finished with his seventh multi-hit performance over his past nine contests, a span in which he's slashing .500/.526/.528. Bogaerts has raised his season batting average from .219 to .265 with the hot stretch, though he has only two RBI during that span and hasn't gone deep in any of his past 14 games.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Big day in Friday's win

Garcia went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored, three RBI and two stolen bases in Friday's extra-inning win over the Cardinals.

He opened the scoring on the night with a two-run double in the second inning, then played a role in the Nationals' four-run outburst in the top of the 10th by walking, stealing second and eventually coming home on Jacob Young's bases-loaded triple. Garcia continues to add to his career highs in multiple categories, including 11 homers and 15 stolen bases in 89 games to go along with a .278/.310/.441 slash line.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Lands on IL

The Giants placed Estrada on the 10-day injured list Friday with a sprained left wrist.

Estrada landed on the injured list in late June due to a left wrist sprain, and the same injury will now force him back onto the IL roughly one month later. He was able to return to the active roster after 11 days following his previous IL stint, though it's unclear if he'll require a longer absence this time around. Casey Schmitt was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to provide infield depth, and he'll likely split reps at second base with Brett Wisely until Estrada returns.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Absent from lineup

Lux is not in the lineup for Friday's contest in Houston, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

The left-handed hitting Lux is getting a day off as the Astros send lefty Framber Valdez to the bump. Cavan Biggio -- who also bats left-handed -- will be at second base for the Dodgers.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

    Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Idle Friday

Gorman is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Nationals, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Gorman will avoid a matchup with southpaw MacKenzie Gore on Friday. Brendan Donovan will fill Gorman's spot at second base.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Four hits vs. Red Sox

Rodgers went 4-for-5 with a double, four runs scored and a pair of RBI in Wednesday's 20-7 win over Boston.

Rodgers has at least one hit in six straight games following the All-Star break -- he's gone 9-for-25 (.360) with a home run in that span. Overall, the 27-year-old second baseman is slashing .270/.313/.394 with seven homers, 41 runs scored and 33 RBI across 336 plate appearances this season.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Homers in third straight

Marte went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Wednesday's win over the Royals.

Marte singled in his first trip to the plate and later added a three-run shot in the top of the ninth to extend Arizona's lead, giving him his third straight game with a home run. He's also recorded multiple hits and at least two RBI in three straight games, boosting his average to .296 on the season. In the month of July, the second baseman is batting .338 with five homers, 15 RBI and 13 runs scored.
