  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Twins' Logan Forsythe: Absent from Wednesday's lineup

Forsythe is not in the lineup against Cleveland on Wednesday, LaVelle E. Neal of the Star Tribune reports.

Forsythe is expected to be available off the bench but won't be in the starting lineup since he still has yet to arrive in Minnesota after being dealt from the Dodgers on Tuesday. Ehire Adrianza will man second base and bat ninth.

  • Blue Jays' Darnell Sweeney: Returns to Blue Jays

Sweeney was called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

Sweeney was removed from the 40-man roster in early July after a brief stint in the majors, and now makes his return to the Blue Jays following the trades of John Axford and Aaron Loup. Sweeney should serve in a utility role for Toronto and is unlikely to garner consistent opportunities.

  • Blue Jays' Brandon Drury: Day off Tuesday

Drury is not in Tuesday's lineup versus Oakland, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Drury went 0-for-4 during Monday's series opener and will retreat to the bench while Devon Travis (back) and Yangervis Solarte get starts in the infield.

  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Twins' Logan Forsythe: Shipped to Minnesota

Forsythe was traded from the Dodgers to the Twins on Tuesday along with Luke Raley and Devin Smeltzer in exchange for Brian Dozier, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

With Forsythe's salary matching Dozier's almost perfectly, it allowed the Dodgers to stay under the luxury tax. Forsythe was hitting just .207 and was worth negative-0.6 fWAR in 211 plate appearances, so it would not be surprising if he didn't play much with the rebuilding Twins.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Athletics' Marcus Semien: Laces pair of hits in win

Semien went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs in a win over the Blue Jays on Monday.

Semien operated out of the eight hole, ceding the leadoff role to the hot-hitting Nick Martini. The shortstop is wrapping up July wielding a hot bat, as he's now generated four two-hit efforts over his last eight games, a span during which he's laced a quartet of two-baggers and driven in five of his eight runs for the month.

  • Gordon Beckham 2B | SEA

Mariners' Gordon Beckham: Bumped off 40-man roster

Beckham was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Monday, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Beckham was removed from the 40-man roster to make room for Monday's acquisitions, Adam Warren and Zach Duke. Beckham had put together an uninspiring .200/.263/.229 slash line with one extra-base hit and one RBI in the big leagues prior to being demoted to Triple-A Tacoma on July 13.

  • Rays' Christian Arroyo: Sustains concussion

Arroyo sustained a concussion after getting hit in the head by a pitch while playing for Triple-A Durham on Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Arroyo has hit .264/.339/.396 in 20 games for the Rays this season. He'll likely miss at least a week with the concussion, though an exact timeline is very hard to predict for that sort of injury.

  • Tony Kemp 2B | MIN

Astros' Tony Kemp: Starts in left field Sunday

Kemp started in left field and went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Rangers.

The Astros promoted prospect Kyle Tucker and planned on giving him a shot to take the everyday job in left field, but that hasn't worked out. With the rookie hitting just .143 (6-for-42), Kemp has emerged as a logical candidate to get most of the starts in left. That could change if the Astros decide to trade for an outfielder ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. Another wrinkle is Marwin Gonzalez likely getting time in left field once shortstop Carlos Correa (back) is ready.

  • Blue Jays' Yangervis Solarte: Bows out of lineup

Solarte is out of the lineup Sunday against the White Sox.

Solarte has been stuck in a 5-for-43 rut at the dish over his last 10 games, so he'll be given a breather as the newly acquired Brandon Drury picks up a second straight start at third base. In the event manager John Gibbons elects to open up a permanent lineup spot for Drury, Solarte would still have a fairly clear path to everyday at-bats at shortstop or second base as part of a double-play tandem with Lourdes Gurriel.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

Rangers' Elvis Andrus: Held out for series finale

Andrus is out of the lineup Sunday against the Astros.

Andrus will give way to Jurickson Profar at shortstop as the Rangers look to give the veteran some rest for the day after the night game. After hitting just .214 over his first 22 games back from the disabled list following an extended absence due to a fractured elbow, Andrus has caught fire at the plate since the All-Star break, slashing .375/.422/.575 with two home runs and two steals.
