  • Royals' Whit Merrifield: Launches homer in win

Merrifield went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Monday's win over the White Sox.

Merrifield led off the first with his 12th home run of the season. He had been slumping lately with just three hits in his last 27 at-bats, but hopefully the homer will snap him out of his slump. He remains one of the best second basemen in baseball with his .302 average and 31 steals.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Smacks 11th home run

Altuve went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Sunday against the Red Sox.

Altuve took Rick Porcello deep in the sixth inning to record his 11th home run of the season. It was his first home run since Aug. 24, though he is riding a modest four-game hitting streak, during which he's managed five hits across 16 at-bats. After swiping 11 bases between June and July, Altuve has also stopped running since returning from a knee injury on Aug. 21, going only 1-for-2 on stolen base attempts.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Clubs fourth homer

Lowe hit a three-run home run in the first inning while going 1-for-4 of Sunday's game.

Lowe went hitless in his first 19 at-bats after his callup in August, but he has hit .352/.444/.648 since breaking that slump. The home run was his fourth in his last 10 games.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

Rangers' Elvis Andrus: Sits out Sunday

Andrus is not in the lineup Sunday against the Athletics.

Andrus hasn't gotten a day off since late July, so he'll head to the bench to rest. Jurickson Profar will slide over to replace him at shortstop, allowing Willie Calhoun to fill the void.

  • Tigers' Ronny Rodriguez: Starting at shortstop Sunday

Rodriguez is starting at shortstop and batting seventh in Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

With regular shortstop Jose Iglesias (abdomen) still out of the lineup for at least one more day, Rodriguez will pick up the start Sunday. The 26-year-old is slashing just .217/.255/.336 this season, though he's shown surprising pop lately with four home runs in his last 12 games.

  • Blue Jays' Yangervis Solarte: Back from DL on Sunday

Solarte (oblique) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Sunday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Solarte wound up missing just under a month of action due to a Grade 2 oblique strain. With Josh Donaldson (calf) out of town, Solarte appears to hold regular playing time at third base. However, for Sunday's contest, Solarte will man the keystone and bat seventh.

  • Blue Jays' Yangervis Solarte: Could return Sunday

Manager John Gibbons said Saturday that Solarte (oblique) may return from the 10-day disabled list Sunday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Though Solarte might be back on the active roster as soon as Sunday for the series finale against Cleveland, he could require a bit more time to recover from this oblique issue before taking the field. Gibbons added that Tuesday is also being targeted for Solarte's reinstatement if the infielder isn't feeling ready by Sunday.

  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Twins' Logan Forsythe: Scores three runs

Forsythe went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and three runs in Friday's win over the Royals.

Forsythe has cooled a bit after starting off pretty strong with his new club at the beginning of August, hitting just .226 with three RBI over his last 15 games. He is, however, still slashing .298/.394/.342 with 11 RBI and 14 runs scored in 32 games for the Twins since the trade. The increased playing time in Minnesota ups his value, but only by rather minimal degrees.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Homers in victory

Torres went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the Yankees' 4-0 win over the Mariners on Friday.

The impressive rookie campaign continued for Torres on Friday night, as he got the scoring started for the Yankees with a two-run blast off James Paxton in the second inning. His batting average now sits at .277 for the season, along with 23 home runs and 68 RBI.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Athletics' Marcus Semien: Reaches base four times

Semien went 2-for-2 with a home run, a single, two walks and two RBI in Friday's win over the Rangers.

Semien's perfect night at the plate was highlighted by a two-run homer in the second inning off Rangers' starter Yovani Gallardo. The 27-year-old shortstop now has at least one hit in nine of his last 11 games and bumped his season average up to .262 with Friday's performance.
