  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Yankees' Thairo Estrada: Back in action in instructional ball

Estrada (back) clubbed a home run for the Yankees in an instructional league game against the Pirates earlier this week, the Associated Press reports.

Estrada hadn't played in any minor-league games since May 7 after a back injury resulted in him spending most of the season on the 7-day disabled list at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Now seemingly healthy again, Estrada will look to make up for the lost at-bats by playing regularly in the instructional league and perhaps taking part in winter ball.

  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Twins' Logan Forsythe: Goes hitless in return

Forsythe (knee) started at third base and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Tigers.

Forsythe had missed the Twins' last three games with left knee inflammation, but the fact that the team didn't immediately shut him down for the season suggests the issue was only a minor concern. With Miguel Sano (knee) uncertain to return over the Twins' final five contests, Forsythe should see most of his remaining opportunities at the hot corner with the hot-hitting Ehire Adrianza having seemingly established himself as the preferred option at second base.

  • Blue Jays' Brandon Drury: Moved to 60-day DL

Drury (hand) was shifted to the 60-day disabled list prior to Wednesday's game.

Though Drury was unlikely to return to the field during the final stretch of the season, this move confirms that his 2018 campaign has come to a close. In a disappointing year, the infielder battled injuries and a months-long demotion, which led to only 26 games played at the major-league level between Toronto and New York. In a corresponding move, Jon Berti had his contract selected from the minors.

  • Blue Jays' Yangervis Solarte: Takes seat vs. Astros

Solarte is out of the lineup against Houston on Wednesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Solarte went 2-for-8 with one RBI during the first two games of this series. Joe Berti is set to make his major-league debut and will start at second base while Aledmys Diaz gets the start at third.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: On bench Wednesday

Altuve is not in the lineup against Toronto on Wednesday, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

Manager A.J. Hinch has elected to sit most of his regulars after the Astros have locked up the division. Tony Kemp will draw a start at the keystone.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Three more hits in loss

Lowe went 3-for-3 with a two-run double, another two-bagger and a walk in a loss to the Yankees on Tuesday.

The rookie continued to make impactful contact Tuesday, with his pair of doubles giving him 12 extra-base hits (five doubles, two triples, five home runs) in September. That's led to an impressive 15 RBI as well as a 30-point boost in batting average to .248.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Athletics' Marcus Semien: Solo homer in losing effort

Semien went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and two strikeouts in Tuesday's extra-innings loss to the Mariners.

Semien took reliever Roenis Elias deep with one out in the fifth inning for his only hit in the 11-inning contest. The 28-year-old has tallied 14 homers and 66 RBI to go along with a career-high 14 stolen bases, but he's ending the regular season in a bit of a slump with a .215/.297/.380 line in September.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Scratched due to hip and groin tightness

Torres was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays due to tightness in his hip and groin area, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Torres' absence is not due to the pitch which hit his foot Monday but instead related to a separate issue. The severity of the injury appears to be minor, as he could have started if necessary, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Out of lineup Tuesday

Torres is not starting Tuesday after being hit in the foot in Monday's game, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Neil Walker will start at second base in his absence. Torres expects to be available off the bench.

  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Twins' Logan Forsythe: Back in action Tuesday

Forsythe (knee) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Tigers.

Forsythe missed the entirety of the Twins' weekend series in Oakland due to left knee inflammation. That time off plus Monday's off day was enough rest for him to return to the lineup. He'll bat seventh and play second base.
