Kean Wong 2B | SEA
Angels' Kean Wong: Recalled by Angels
Wong was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.
Wong was sent to the minors Saturday, but he didn't appear in any Triple-A games during the past week. The 26-year-old will now return to the major-league club after Justin Upton (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. In 17 games with the Angels this year, Wong has hit .184 with five RBI and two runs.

Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT
Rays' Brandon Lowe: On bench Friday
Lowe is not in the lineup Friday against the Angels, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Lowe started the past four games and will receive a day off after going 3-for-13 with a homer, two doubles, three RBI four walks and three runs. Joey Wendle will cover the keystone while Yandy Diaz and Ji-Man Choi work at third and first base, respectively.

Michael Chavis 2B | CIN
Red Sox's Michael Chavis: Starts at 2B, leads off
Chavis went 0-for-3 with a walk in Thursday's 1-0 loss to Tampa Bay.
Chavis was called up when the Red Sox placed Christian Arroyo (knee) on the injured list. He not only took Arroyo's spot on the active roster, but he also took his roles as the second baseman and leadoff hitter. Chavis later moved to first base after Bobby Dalbec was removed for a pinch hitter.

Whit Merrifield 2B | ATL
Royals' Whit Merrifield: Notches steal Thursday
Merrifield went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Thursday's 8-1 loss to the Yankees.
This was his sixth stolen base in June and his 21st in 22 attempts on the year. Merrifield is slashing a solid .272/.324/.403 with six home runs, 41 RBI and 45 runs scored across 321 plate appearances. He's seen time at second base and the corner outfield positions, but he's also remained a steady presence atop the batting order.

Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM
Twins' Jorge Polanco: Productive in loss
Polanco went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base against Cleveland on Thursday.
Polanco continued his terrific month of June, stroking a single in the seventh and a double in the ninth. He also swiped a base following his seventh-inning knock, which is his sixth steal in seven opportunities. The 27-year-old has recovered from a slow start to the season to slash .305/.356/.524 in 20 games this month.

Tony Kemp 2B | MIN
Athletics' Tony Kemp: Remains hot at plate
Kemp, who entered Thursday's win over the Rangers as an in-game replacement for Mark Canha (hip), went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk, extending his on-base streak to 13 games.
Kemp also went 2-for-3 in Wednesday's loss to Texas, which at the time marked his second consecutive two-hit effort. The veteran has evolved into one of the Athletics' most consistent offensive performers, posting a well-balanced line of seven doubles, two triples, four home runs, 17 RBI, four steals, 27 walks and 26 runs on his way to career-best .863 OPS across 170 plate appearances.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Gets rare day off
Altuve is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Altuve will take a seat for the first time since May 14 after he went 2-for-5 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and an additional run in Wednesday's 13-0 trouncing of the Orioles. The Astros are in the midst of a stretch of 20 games in as many days, so manager Dusty Baker is likely just looking to manage Altuve's workload by holding him out Thursday. Robel Garcia will fill in for Altuve at second base, while center fielder Myles Straw serves as Houston's leadoff man.

Christian Arroyo 2B | NYM
Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Placed on injured list
Arroyo was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right knee contusion Thursday, retroactive to June 21.
While manager Alex Cora was initially optimistic that Arroyo could avoid a trip to the injured list, he was seen limping on the field ahead of Wednesday's game against the Rays and will now have some additional time to recover. It's not yet clear whether he could spend more than the minimum of 10 days on the injured list, but he'll be eligible to return in early July. Enrique Hernandez and Marwin Gonzalez could fill in at second base in his absence.

Michael Chavis 2B | CIN
Red Sox's Michael Chavis: Recalled by Red Sox
Chavis was recalled by the Red Sox on Thursday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Chavis has already spent three separate stints on the big-league roster this season. He owns a respectable 100 wRC+ in 11 games, but his 39.4 percent strikeout rate and 0.0 percent walk rate make for a worrying combination. He's been solid but unspectacular in 24 games for Triple-A Worcester, homering six times while slashing .263/.327/.474. A corresponding move has not yet been announced.

Tony Kemp 2B | MIN
Athletics' Tony Kemp: Not in Thursday's lineup
Kemp isn't starting Thursday's game against the Rangers.
Kemp has had multi-hit performances in each of his last two starts, but he'll take a seat for the second time in the last three games. Mark Canha, Skye Bolt and Chad Pinder will work in the outfield from left to right.
