Gleyber Torres 2B | DET
Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Day off Thursday
Torres will sit Thursday against the Royals.
Torres will get a day off to clear his head following a slump which has seen him go 1-for-26 over his last eight games. Tyler Wade starts at shortstop in his absence.

Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT
Rays' Brandon Lowe: Big day at plate Wednesday
Lowe went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Red Sox.
The 26-year-old has additional pressure on his playing time now that Wander Franco has arrived in the majors, but Lowe seems to be rising to the challenge. Over his last 12 games, he's slashing .273/.333/.636 with four of his 14 homers on the season in addition to eight runs and 10 RBI.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Blasts 17th homer
Altuve went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, two total runs and a walk in Wednesday's 13-0 rout of the Orioles.
Houston's leadoff hitter found himself in the middle of the action in a big offensive night for the club, slugging a two-run shot in the fourth inning to pad an already-substantial lead. The homer was his 17th of the campaign, tying him for 12th place in the league. Remarkably, 10 of his 23 hits in June have left the yard.

Luis Rengifo 3B | MIL
Angels' Luis Rengifo: Records second homer
Rengifo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk Wednesday against the Giants.
Rengifo delivered a solo home run in the fifth inning to record his second round tripper of the season. He's seen consistent playing time since being recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on June 17, as Wednesday's start marked his sixth consecutive game in the lineup. In that span, Rengifo has gone 6-for-24 with two home runs, four RBI and five runs scored.

Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI
Athletics' Elvis Andrus: Burns old team
Andrus went 3-for-5 with a two-run single, a double and a run in a win over the Rangers on Tuesday.
The veteran shortstop did some damage to his old squad by authoring one of a trio of three-hit efforts for the Athletics. Andrus' absolutely dreadful start to the season is firmly behind him, as he now owns a .290/.347/.420 slash line with nine doubles, nine RBI, six walks, two steals and 10 runs across 19 June contests.

Christian Arroyo 2B | NYM
Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Still nursing limp
Arroyo (shin) was seen limping on the field before Wednesday's game against the Rays, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Seeing as though he's still having trouble walking, the 26-year-old would need to make significant progress to play Thursday. If he can't recover in the next few days, Arroyo may find himself on the injured list.
-
Santiago Espinal 2B | LAD
Blue Jays' Santiago Espinal: Moves into utility role
Espinal is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
George Springer's return from the injured list Tuesday looks set to close the door on Espinal's run as an everyday player. With some combination of Springer, Randal Grichuk, Teoscar Hernandez and Lourdes Gurriel expected to occupy the three outfield and designated-hitter spots in most games, Cavan Biggio should move back into an everyday role at third base, where Espinal had been holding down the fort. Espinal made four straight starts at the hot corner before exiting the lineup in Tuesday's series opener in Miami.

Christian Arroyo 2B | NYM
Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Remains out of lineup
Arroyo (shin) isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Rays, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Arroyo suffered a bone bruise on his right shin during Sunday's game against the Royals, although X-rays revealed no structural damage. Manager Alex Cora is optimistic that the 26-year-old can avoid a trip to the injured list, and he's running on the field ahead of batting practice Wednesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports. However, he'll be out of the lineup for a second straight contest, while Enrique Hernandez will start at second base and bat eighth.

Luis Rengifo 3B | MIL
Angels' Luis Rengifo: Logs sixth straight start
Rengifo will bat leadoff and start in right field Wednesday against the Giants, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Justin Upton's (back) absence from the lineup will clear the way for Rengifo to receive his second turn in as leadoff hitter in four days. Rengifo will also be making his sixth consecutive start, including his fourth in a row in right field. He's gone 5-for-20 with a home run and three RBI over that stretch, but it's unclear if that will be enough for him to maintain a regular role ahead of Juan Lagares, who looks like Rengifo's primary competition for a spot in the everyday lineup.

Danny Mendick 3B | CHW
White Sox's Danny Mendick: Takes seat Wednesday
Mendick isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
Mendick drew 12 consecutive starts for the White Sox, but he'll get a breather in Wednesday's series finale. He went just 1-for-14 with a run, two walks and five strikeouts across his last five appearances. Leury Garcia will take over at second base and bat seventh.
