  • Royals' Michael Massey: Goes on IL with sprained ankle

The Royals placed Massey on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left ankle sprain.

It's not clear when or how Massey was injured, but his playing time had already been trending downward with just two starts over the Royals' last six contests. Tyler Tolbert is taking his roster spot.

  • Max Muncy 3B | ATH

Athletics' Max Muncy: Homer, steal in loss

Muncy went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Angels.

Muncy has found his power with three homers over his last four games. He has gone 6-for-21 (.286) across five games since his recall from Triple-A Las Vegas. The infield prospect started slow during his first stint in the majors, but he looks to be putting the pieces together the second time around. He's at a .202/.228/.382 slash line with four homers, 10 RBI, seven runs scored, four doubles and no stolen bases over 92 plate appearances. He has a short-term path to a starting role at third base, but Gio Urshela (hamstring) is set to begin a rehab assignment soon and could pose a threat to Muncy's playing time later in the month.

  • Zack Gelof 3B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Ready for rehab stint

Gelof (ribs) is expected to be sent out on a minor-league rehab assignment later in the week, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Gelof was cleared to resume a hitting progression at the end of May, and he's since made enough progress to see live at-bats in the minors. The Virginia product hasn't played in a game yet this season, so he'll presumably need at least a handful of appearances in the minors before being activated from the 60-day injured list.

  • Will Wilson SS | SEA

Guardians' Will Wilson: Goes back to minors

The Guardians optioned Wilson to Triple-A Columbus on Monday.

Wilson had just a .498 OPS and 39 percent strikeout rate over 24 contests during his first stint in the majors. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for the return of Lane Thomas (foot).

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Goes deep Sunday

LeMahieu went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to Boston on Sunday.

LeMahieu gave New York a one-run lead with a solo shot in the fifth inning, but Boston responded with five runs in the following frame. The long ball was LeMahieu's second of the campaign and his first since May 17. The veteran infielder is slashing a modest .258/.333/.371 on the campaign, though he's been swinging a hot bat since the start of the month, going 9-for-21 (.429 average) with six RBI over six games so far in June.

  • Max Muncy 3B | ATH

    Athletics' Max Muncy: Lifts homer

Muncy went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 5-1 win over Baltimore.

Muncy went yard for the second time in three games, tagging Bryan Baker for a solo shot in the eighth inning. The third baseman spent over a month in Triple-A before being called up June 4, and he's 4-for-17 (.235) with four RBI and six strikeouts since.

  • Andres Gimenez SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Not starting Sunday

Gimenez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Twins.

Gimenez has gone 4-for-13 with two walks, a double and two runs in four games since coming back from a quadriceps strain, and he'll take a seat for Sunday's series finale in Minnesota. Alan Roden will receive a start in the outfield, pushing Addison Barger back to the hot corner and Ernie Clement to second base.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Idle against righty again

Massey is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Massey has now started just two of the Royals' last five games against right-handed pitching. Over his last 10 games, Massey is slashing just .154/.185/.154, bringing his OPS down to .479 for the season.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Taking seat Sunday

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Schneemann has made five starts against left-handed pitching this season, but he'll hit the bench Sunday with southpaw Brandon Walter taking the mound for Houston. Will Wilson is stepping in at the keystone and batting ninth for Cleveland in the series finale.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Clubs 13th homer

Lowe went 1-for-5 with a solo home run during Saturday's 11-10 loss to the Marlins in extras.

Lowe hit his 13th home run on the season Saturday and knocked in his 34th RBI of the year in the process. The 30-year-old is on pace to top 30 home runs and 80 RBI, which would be his best season since 2021 -- the last time he was healthy enough to play more than 109 games. He is currently slashing .247/.298/.454 for the campaign.
