  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: On bench Sunday

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

The freshly activated Ji-Man Choi (elbow) will step in at first base for Diaz, who had drawn starts at the position in each of the Rays' last six games. Though Choi is back in the fold, Diaz is expected to play on a near-everyday basis while bouncing between the two corner-infield spots. Taylor Walls appears to be at greater risk of losing out on regular playing time following Choi's return.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

    Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Resting Sunday

Gurriel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Gurriel is presumably sitting as a result of a planned rest day, as he had started in each of the Astros' last 10 games. Niko Goodrum will get the nod at first base in place of Gurriel, who went 6-for-37 during that 10-game stretch to drop his season average to .196.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Padres' Matt Beaty: Not in Sunday's lineup

Beaty (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Beaty appeared to suffer a shoulder injury on a diving attempt in the outfield during Saturday's game, and he won't start Sunday's series finale. The 29-year-old has seen significant action in right field since Wil Myers (thumb) landed on the injured list, and the Padres will continue moving down the depth chart. Trayce Thompson will receive the nod in right for Sunday's contest.

Padres' Matt Beaty: Exits with shoulder injury

Beaty left Saturday's loss to the Marlins after appearing to injure his shoulder while diving for a ball in the second inning, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Beaty got the start in right field but had to give way to Jose Azocar after landing awkwardly on the attempted catch in the second frame. Manager Bob Melvin didn't sound optimistic about Beaty's prognosis after the game, stating, "They're working on him right now, but it was obviously enough to where he had to come out of the game, so that's not a great sign." San Diego is already without primary right fielder Wil Myers, who is on the 10-day injured list with a thumb injury, so losing Beaty for any amount of time would further thin the team's outfield depth. Options in right field behind Myers and Beaty include Azocar, Trayce Thompson and CJ Abrams.

  • Ryan O'Hearn RF | PIT

Royals' Ryan O'Hearn: Gets third straight start

O'Hearn will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Orioles, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

O'Hearn will stay in the lineup for the third game in a row, and at least against right-handed pitching, he looks like he'll be the primary replacement for Carlos Santana (ankle), who was recently placed on the 10-day injured list. Over his prior two starts, O'Hearn went 1-for-7, with his single in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Cardinals representing his first hit of the season.

  • Giants' Wilmer Flores: Slugs grand slam Saturday

Flores went 1-for-3 with a grand slam, a walk and six total RBI in Saturday's 13-7 win over the Cardinals.

Flores gave the Giants a big early lead with his first-inning grand slam off Steven Matz. Though he didn't collect another hit in the contest, the veteran produced two more runs on a fourth-inning sacrifice fly and an eighth-inning bases-loaded walk. The grand slam was the fifth of Flores' career, and his first since September of 2017, per Sarah Langs of MLB.com. Flores is slashing .269/.340/.419 with three homers and a team-high 19 RBI on the season.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Sitting out Game 1 of twin bill

Hoskins is out of the lineup for the first game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Mets, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Before Saturday's game was postponed due to inclement weather, Hoskins was scheduled to sit for only the second time this season. Even after the postponement, Hoskins will still get a game off, but expect him to rejoin the lineup for the second game of the twin bill. Johan Camargo will fill in at first base in Game 1 in Hoskins' stead.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Laces three doubles Saturday

Freeman went 3-for-4 with three doubles and two runs scored in a 7-0 win over the Cubs during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.

He also went 1-for-4 with a walk in the nightcap as the Dodgers completed the sweep. Freeman's power production is down a little from his usual standards as he has only three homers and 12 RBI through 25 games, but he's otherwise been exactly as advertised in his first season on the West Coast with a .316/.400/.516 slash line.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

Nationals' Josh Bell: Launches home run, scores thrice

Bell went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two additional runs during Saturday's 7-3 victory against the Angels.

Bell opened the scoring with a solo shot in the first inning, walked and scored in the fourth and singled and scored in the fifth. This is Bell's third instance reaching base three times in six games this month and he's still slashing a robust .351/.452/.546, all of which rank top 12 in MLB.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Tossed against Padres

Cooper was ejected in the eighth inning of Saturday's against the Padres for arguing balls and strikes, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Cooper had gone 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI prior to being tossed. Miguel Rojas shifted to first base and Joey Wendle entered the game at shortstop in Cooper's absence.
