  • Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera: Stays hot with ninth homer

Cabrera went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, two RBI and two runs during Saturday's loss to Houston.

Cabrera is now 10-for-28 with three doubles, two homers, nine RBI and six runs through his past eight games. The veteran has been locked into the middle of the lineup during that surge, and he could prove to be a solid asset over the final weeks of the fantasy season. Just note that his power and speed upside are both capped.

  • Mets' Wilmer Flores: Launches grand slam in loss to Astros

Flores went 1-for-4 with a grand slam during Saturday's loss to Houston.

This was Flores' 11th homer of the second half, and he's now up to 18 for the campaign to go along with 52 RBI, 42 runs and a .269/.305/.487 slash line. Those numbers don't jump off the page, but he's also only received 361 plate appearances this season. Flores should continue to see consistent at-bats moving forward, and with eligibility at multiple infield positions in most settings, he projects to remain a serviceable asset in deeper leagues.

  • Dominic Smith DH | ATL

Mets' Dominic Smith: Hits fourth homer in loss

Smith went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run during Saturday's loss to Houston.

Smith went 3-for-25 with three singles through seven games since his last homer, and even with Saturday's long fly, the 22-year-old first baseman still owns a discouraging .183/.213/.366 slash line through 75 plate appearances in the majors. While his long-term upside remains high, Smith probably shouldn't be counted on in many seasonal settings at this stage of the game.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Out of Saturday's lineup

Abreu (elbow) is out of Saturday's lineup against the Rays.

He will miss his third game in a row after tweaking his elbow in Wednesday's game. Matt Davidson draws another start at first base, batting cleanup, and Rob Brantly will get a rare start at DH, hitting seventh.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yulieski Gurriel: Out for Game 1

Gurriel (knee) is out of the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

He will miss his third game in a row with right knee soreness. Marwin Gonzalez will get the start at first base and hit fifth. Tyler White was also recalled thanks to expanding rosters for added first base depth.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Looks west for fall development

Mountcastle will play in this year's Arizona Fall League, Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com reports.

Mountcastle, who has always shown promise offensively, recently made the switch from shortstop to third base, and the AFL will allow him to get more reps in at his new position. The 20-year-old hit .314 in 88 games with Frederick before being promoted to Double-A. Mountcastle will enter spring training with the skills to make the club, but with Manny Machado blocking the road, Mountcastle is still a couple years away from his MLB debut.

  • Dodgers' O'Koyea Dickson: Joins Dodgers on Friday

Dickson was called up by the Dodgers on Friday.

Dickson is set to make his major-league debut in the near future after spending the entirety of this season with Triple-A Oklahoma City. During 116 games with the minor-league club, he's slashed .246/.328/.484 with 24 home runs and 76 RBI. Although it's unlikely that Dickson sees a lot of playing time, the Dodgers will want to see if he can perform at the big-league level.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Still out with elbow issue

Abreu (elbow) is out of Friday's lineup against the Rays.

He tweaked his elbow in Wednesday's game and will miss his second contest in a row. Matt Davidson gets the start at first base and will hit cleanup. Abreu is still considered day-to-day.

  • Justin Bour 1B | SF

Marlins' Justin Bour: May start rehab assignment Saturday

Bour (oblique) could begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Bour has been sidelined since July 24 with the oblique injury, so the Marlins would likely want him to appear in multiple games with Jacksonville before feeling comfortable with activating him from the 10-day disabled list, perhaps as soon as next week. With a .289 average and 21 home runs in 339 plate appearances prior to hitting the DL, Bour's likely return in September would provide a jolt to the Marlins' fading playoff hopes, as the team has sorely missed his power production at first base. Neither Tomas Telis nor Tyler Moore has been able to consistently give the Marlins competitive at-bats at the position since Bour was shut down with the injury.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Cardinals' Luke Voit: Heads to bench Thursday

Voit is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cardinals.

Voit will head to the bench after going 0-for-4 with a trio of strikeouts in Wednesday's loss to the Brewers. He's started both games at first base since Jedd Gyorko (hamstring) landed on the disabled list -- with Matt Carpenter sliding over to third base -- so he'll likely continue to see starts until Gyorko returns. Jose Martinez, who is starting over him Thursday, could also see some starts at first base.
