Encarnacion-Strand (back) has been doing rotational exercises since receiving an epidural for his back issues and will be evaluated after the weekend to determine whether he'll need another epidural, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

So far there's no indication of a timetable for Encarnacion-Strand's return to action. When he returns, it'll be a little tricky to figure out his playing time following Noelvi Marte's strong performance this week. One possibility is Jeimer Candelario losing more playing time -- Candelario is hitting only .118 and was left out of the starting lineup Saturday.

Pasquantino went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Astros.

Pasquantino took Framber Valdez deep in the fifth inning for what ended up being the last run of the game. This was Pasquantino's third straight game with a hit -- he's 3-for-10 with two RBI and three runs scored in that span. The first baseman is still working out of the early doldrums, batting .188 with a .586 OPS, three homers, 16 RBI, eight runs scored, three doubles and a triple over 27 contests. He continues to hold down a near-everyday role, splitting his time between first base and designated hitter, depending on where Salvador Perez is playing.

Casas isn't in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against Cleveland, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

After going 1-for-3 with a walk during a loss in Game 1, Casas will take a seat on the bench to conclude Saturday's festivities while southpaw Doug Nikhazy toes the slab for Cleveland. Romy Gonzalez will fill in at first base and bat sixth.

Schanuel was removed from Saturday's game against the Twins after fouling a ball off his right knee, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Schanuel needed assistance getting off the field after injuring himself in the fourth inning. The team has labeled his injury as a contusion, but he may need additional testing to determine if there is any structural damage as a result of the incident. J.D. Davis replaced Schanuel at first base Saturday.

Busch is not in Saturday's lineup against the Phillies.

The Cubs haven't faced many lefties this year, but Busch has yet to make a start against a same-handed pitcher. Justin Turner will start at first base against southpaw Jesus Luzardo.

Wade went 1-for-3 in Friday's 2-0 loss to the Rangers.

Wade recorded a single in the fifth inning after going 0-for-6 in the Giants' previous two games. The 31-year-old has struggled at the plate to begin the 2025 campaign, failing to record a hit in 18 of his 23 games. Wade is slashing .104/.238/.224 with eight RBI, seven runs scored, five extra-base hits and a 12:21 BB:K across 81 plate appearances.

Mountcastle isn't in the lineup for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tigers.

Mountcastle will grab a seat on the bench to start Saturday's twin bill after going 1-for-10 with a walk during Baltimore's previous series against Washington. Ryan O'Hearn will start at first base, moving Jordan Westburg into the DH spot while Ramon Urias starts at the hot corner.

Toglia went 3-for-5 with three RBI in Friday's 8-7 loss to Cincinnati.

Toglia tied things up at 4-4 in the third inning on a two-run, ground-rule double, and he drove in a third run in the fifth on an RBI single. It was Toglia's second multi-hit game of the year and the second time he's logged at least three RBI in a game. He's gone 9-for-34 with two walks, two runs scored, one home run and eight RBI over his last 10 games.

Guerrero went 1-for-3 with one walk and a solo homer in Friday's 4-2 win over the Yankees.

Guerrero opened Friday's scoring in the sixth inning, when he took Tim Hill deep to left-center field for a solo home run. It was just the second home run of the season for Guerrero, though he's tied for seventh in the American League in walks with 15 and tied for 12th in the AL in hits with 27. He has a .779 OPS with 10 runs scored and 11 RBI in 114 plate appearances so far this season.

Caglianone made his first career start in the outfield in right field Thursday for Double-A Northwest Arkansas, MLB.com reports. He's hitting .284/.356/.500 with four home runs in 18 games.

Kansas City has had very little production from their outfield this season, so this could get Caglianone to the majors faster if he's able to hold his own with his glove. The No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft is primarily a first baseman and hadn't previously played the outfield in the minors or college.
