Mountcastle went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Thursday against the Red Sox.

Mountcastle got the O's going early, slugging his long ball in the bottom of the first inning. It was his first homer of the season and first extra-base hit since Opening Day. Though he's already racked up three runs scored and five RBI, Mountcastle is also hitting just .179 and will have to improve upon his 36.7 percent strikeout rate to return significant fantasy value.

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBI in a loss to the Angels on Thursday.

The 22-year-old smacked a homer off Griffin Canning in the first inning. The right-handed hitter will have a lot of eyes on him, as many analysts are projecting a breakout season. So far, so good, as he's blasted a pair of homers and driven in five runs with a .348/.483/.652 slash line to open the season.

Hiura went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in a 3-1 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday.

Hiura finally recorded his first hit of the season, doubling off Adam Wainwright after starting 0-for-20. He also scored the Brewers' lone run Thursday. However, Hiura has not been seeing the ball well to start the season. He currently holds a 47.8 percent strikeout rate, which comes after a 2020 season in which he struggled with a 34.6 percent strikeout rate.

Goldschmidt (back) will re-evaluated Friday "and in the days to come," Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

Goldschmidt was held out of the lineup Thursday after his back locked up on him. He's officially considered day-to-day, and manager Mike Shildt's comments suggest his absence may extend for several games. If that is the case, John Nogowski and Matt Carpenter are candidates to take over duties at first base.

Rizzo went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Pirates.

Rizzo was off to slow start, slashing just .105/.250/.158 through six games coming into Thursday, so his first home run of the season was a welcome sight. Kris Bryant and Javier Baez also went deep in the win, and if all three players get going, the Cubs could have a fairly strong offensive attack, with Rizzo right in the center of the action.

Olson (knee) is starting Thursday's game against the Astros, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Olson missed the last two games due to a knee contusion, but he'll serve as the designated hitter and bat second during Thursday's series opener. He went 4-for-17 with a double, one RBI and six strikeouts in his first five games of the season.

Tellez isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels.

Tellez has failed to record a hit in his first 16 at-bats of the season, and he'll retreat to the bench for the third time in the last five games. Marcus Semien will serve as the designated hitter while Joe Panik takes over at second base for Thursday's home opener.

Goldschmidt isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers due to lower-back tightness, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

Goldschmidt had started each of the first six games of the season and went 8-for-26 with six runs and two RBI. Matt Carpenter will slide to first base and bat second Thursday while Tommy Edman starts at second base and leads off. It's not yet clear whether Goldschmidt will be forced to miss additional time.

Vaughn will sit Thursday against the Royals.

The White Sox elected to include Vaughn on the Opening Day roster rather than manipulate his service time, but that evidently didn't mean they saw him as an everyday player. Yermin Mercedes' hot start has meant Vaughn hasn't made a single start as the designated hitter, and he's started just four of eight games in left field. Nick Williams will start in his place Thursday.

White (quadriceps) underwent an MRI on Thursday and is unlikely to require time on the injured list, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

White exited Wednesday's game against the White Sox due to a left quadriceps strain, and he'll have two days to recover since he's sitting out Thursday prior to Friday's scheduled off day. The Mariners will evaluate how White is feeling after Friday's day off before determining when he'll be ready to return.
