Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Returns to lineup
Walker went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's 7-6 loss to the Mets.
Walker was back in the lineup Wednesday against a left-hander after taking a seat the previous two games when the Diamondbacks faced righties. He hasn't been part of a platoon since emerging as a lineup regular in 2019, so having him sit against right-handers is something new, if that's manager Torey Lovullo's plan going forward. Walker, who recently returned from an oblique injury, is batting just .182 against righties in 2021. One motivating factor may be Lovullo's desire to keep the hot-hitting Pavin Smith's bat in the lineup.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Ends power drought
Goldschmidt went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Wednesday's blowout loss to the Dodgers.
Goldschmidt got St. Louis off to a fast start in the first inning, drilling a solo shot to center field. However, Los Angeles responded with 11 runs in the bottom of the frame, and Goldschmidt was pulled in the third inning with the game already out of reach. The homer was his seventh this season and first since May 11, a span of 19 games.

Ryan Mountcastle 1B | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Stays hot against Twins
Mountcastle went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run Wednesday against the Twins.
Mountcastle took Alex Colome deep in the seventh inning to record his sixth home run of the season. He performed well across the team's three-game set against the Twins, collecting five hits in 12 at-bats while slugging two home runs, driving in five and scoring twice. That aided his season-long line, which still sits at an uninspiring .238/.265/.400 mark across 196 plate appearances.

Evan White 1B | LAA
Mariners' Evan White: Remains weeks from returning
The Mariners hope White (hip) will be ready to begin a rehab assignment after the team returns home from its current road trip in mid-June, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
He may not be the primary first baseman upon returning to the Mariners, as fill-in Ty France has hit a respectable .261 with 21 RBI this season. White, on the other hand, was in a 6-for-59 slump before suffering the injury May 13.

Dominic Smith DH | ATL
Mets' Dominic Smith: Reaches base four times
Smith went 3-for-4 with three singles and a walk in Wednesday's 7-6 win over Arizona.
Smith kept the line moving throughout the game, but the Mets' No. 7 through 9 hitters and pinch hitters went a combined 1-for-12. Nonetheless, it was a solid game for the 25-year-old. He's now slashing .264/.324/.365 with three home runs, 19 RBI, 13 runs scored and a stolen base in 176 plate appearances. Smith has produced three multi-hit efforts in his last six games.

Mariners' Ty France: Remains hot Tuesday
France went 3-for-5 with an RBI ground-rule double in a loss to the Athletics on Tuesday.
France's third-inning two-bagger plated Kyle Seager with the Mariners' third run of the game and gave him his fifth RBI in the last three games. The 26-year-old now has four multi-hit efforts in the last eight contests and has given his batting average a 31-point boost to .261 during that post-injured-list stretch.

Rays' Dillon Paulson: Suffers torn ACL
Paulson recently underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the season, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Paulson was traded from the Dodgers to the Rays in late December, and he began the year with Double-A Montgomery. The 23-year-old slashed .340/.373/.396 with 13 RBI and five runs this season. It's not yet clear whether he'll be ready for the start of spring training in 2022.

Donovan Solano 1B | TEX
Giants' Donovan Solano: Plates run Tuesday
Solano went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Angels.
Solano produced the Giants' lone run with an RBI single that scored Steven Duggar in the bottom of the seventh. The infielder has struggled a bit in terms of consistency, but he's getting the job done at the plate and has hit safely in six of his last nine contests, hitting .250 with a .766 OPS while going yard twice and plating seven runs in that span.
