Rangers' Kole Calhoun: Not starting vs. lefty

Calhoun is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Toronto.

The 34-year-old started in right field Friday and Saturday but is on the bench for the series finale with southpaw Hyun Jin Ryu pitching for the Blue Jays. • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Scores twice Saturday

Abreu went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored Saturday in the White Sox's 5-2 win over the Tigers.

Abreu's two hits tied Luis Robert and Josh Harrison for the team lead, as the White Sox exacted revenge on the Tigers on Saturday after dropping Friday's series opener. The veteran first baseman is once again locked in as the centerpiece of a loaded White Sox lineup that should take off as the weather begins to warm in the Midwest. Abreu will start again in Sunday's series finale, manning first base and batting third, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com.

Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Sitting versus southpaw

Lowe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Goes deep again Saturday

Rizzo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 4-2 victory against Boston.

For the second straight game, Rizzo kickstarted the Yankees' offense with a long ball, as he drove a two-run homer to right field in the fourth inning Saturday to tie the score 2-2. The veteran first baseman has gone 2-for-7 with four RBI through his first two games.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Smashes first homer of 2022

Mountcastle went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a run in Saturday's loss to the Rays.

Mountcastle opened the scoring for his team in the third inning, crushing a first-pitch slider from Drew Rasmussen over the fence for his first homer of the year, driving in his teammate Jorge Mateo in the process. He later added a single in the eighth inning to produce his first multi-hit contest of the campaign. Although the Orioles are unlikely to challenge for a playoff spot this season, Mountcastle is coming off of strong 2021 campaign in which he batted .255 with 33 homers and 89 RBI and he'll look to replicate his success in 2022.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: On base thrice in win

France went 1-for-2 with two walks and a run in a win over the Twins on Friday.

France was a thorn in the side of Minnesota pitching from his No. 2 spot in the order, helping make up for Adam Frazier's empty box score out of the leadoff spot. The 27-year-old is primed for a breakout season after already producing an impressive .291 average and .813 OPS across 152 games in 2021.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Takes seat Saturday

Tellez isn't starting Saturday's game against the Cubs, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The Brewers have plenty of right-handed hitters in Saturday's lineup with southpaw Justin Steele on the mound for the Cubs, so Tellez will get a breather. Keston Hiura will start at first base and bat fifth.
