Pete Alonso 1B | BAL
Mets' Pete Alonso: Goes yard twice in loss
Alonso went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Wednesday's 7-6 loss to the Brewers.
Both blasts came off Corbin Burnes, as Alonso launched two-run shots off the Milwaukee ace in the third and fifth innings. The first baseman is only batting .192 (5-for-26) through seven games but four of his hits have gone for extra bases, including three homers.

Carlos Santana 1B | ATL
Pirates' Carlos Santana: Swats first homer
Santana went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Red Sox.
The 36-year-old switch hitter put together a vintage performance as he displayed his patience while also launching his first homer as a Pirate. Santana hasn't hit above .214 in any of the last three seasons but has been able to maintain a solid OBP, and the early returns in Pittsburgh have been more of the same as he's gone 4-for-23 (.174) with a 3:6 BB:K in six games.

Matt Olson 1B | ATL
Braves' Matt Olson: Big day in St. Louis
Olson went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Cardinals.
The first baseman cracked RBI two-baggers off Miles Mikolas in the first and fourth innings, and in between he took the St. Louis right-hander deep for a solo shot. Olson has displayed impressive power in the early going, batting .308 (8-for-26) with three doubles, three homers, six runs and seven RBI through six games.

Darick Hall 1B | PIT
Phillies' Darick Hall: IL stint coming?
Hall (thumb) could be placed on the injured list, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Heyman reported that Kody Clemens will be added to the active roster and references the injury to Hall. While it doesn't explicitly say Hall is indeed bound for the IL, it would seem to point in that direction. Hall injured his right thumb on a slide in Wednesday's game versus the Yankees and had been set to be re-evaluated. Edmundo Sosa, Josh Harrison and Clemens would figure to see a boost in playing time if Hall does indeed need to miss some time.

Kody Clemens 1B | MIN
Phillies' Kody Clemens: Expected to be promoted
Clemens is expected to be recalled by the Phillies, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
It could mean bad news for Darick Hall (thumb), who was injured during Wednesday's game. Clemens was acquired along with Gregory Soto from the Tigers in a January trade. Roger's son is capable of playing all over the infield and the corner outfield spots.

Darick Hall 1B | PIT
Phillies' Darick Hall: Leaves game with thumb injury
Hall was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Yankees with an apparent right thumb injury, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Hall appeared to hurt his thumb on a slide at second base in the fourth inning while trying to stretch a single to a double. He remained in the game initially but was lifted in the fifth. More should be known about Hall's condition after the game.

Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL
Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sitting Wednesday
Tellez is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale with the Mets.
Tellez will head to the bench after starting the first five games of the campaign, going 3-for-19 with a solo home run and three runs scored over those contests. With the Brewers looking to finish off the sweep over the Mets on Wednesday, Luke Voit will draw the start at first base and bat fifth.

Dominic Smith DH | ATL
Nationals' Dominic Smith: Sitting Wednesday
Smith is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Rays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Smith will take a seat after starting Washington's first five games of the season, going 5-for-19 with an RBI and two runs scored over those contests. Joey Meneses will slot in at first base while Stone Garrett enters the lineup at designated hitter and bats seventh in the series finale with Tampa Bay.

Carlos Santana 1B | ATL
Pirates' Carlos Santana: Slow start to season
Santana went 0-for-4 with a strikeout Tuesday against the Red Sox.
Santana has been in the lineup for all five of Pittsburgh's games to this point, though Tuesday marked his fourth hitless effort. He doesn't appear to be at risk of losing playing time right away, especially given that he has yet to be moved out of the cleanup spot. The Pirates have had a more stable lineup as compared to 2022, but if Santana continues to struggle, he could enter into more of a rotational role between first base and designated hitter.

Joey Votto 1B | TOR
Reds' Joey Votto: Unlikely to return Thursday
Reds manager David Bell said Votto (shoulder) is unlikely to be activated when first eligible Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Votto began a minor-league rehab assignment over the weekend at Triple-A Louisville, but he still has some work to do as he completes his recovery from August 2022 shoulder surgery. The new target for his 2023 debut might be early next week.
