  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

    Reds' Joey Votto: Reports improvement

Votto (shoulder) said Monday that the difference in how he feels now and when he was shut down is "incomparable," C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Votto is back to taking live batting practice and will continue to do so as he ramps things back up. While he is not quite game-ready yet, he wouldn't appear to be too far off from re-starting a rehab assignment if things continue to progress in the right direction.

  • Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Drives in three

Walker went 2-for-5 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 8-3 victory over the Pirates.

Walker extended Arizona's lead to 7-3 with a two-out double off Robert Stephenson in the seventh inning. He'd add a third RBI in the ninth, driving in Corbin Carroll with a base hit. The 32-year-old Walker had been struggling at the plate, going just 4-for-32 in his last 10 games. He's still slashing a solid .261/.321/.515 with 11 home runs and 34 RBI through 184 plate appearances this season.

  • Spencer Steer LF | CIN

Reds' Spencer Steer: Drives in team's lone run

Steer went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Yankees.

Steer opened the scoring in the first inning Sunday, driving a two-out double off Luis Severino to give the Reds an early 1-0 lead. It would be Cincinnati's only run in the contest, as it fell 4-1 to the Yankees. The 25-year-old Steer has hits in four straight games, going 6-for-16 with a pair of doubles in that span. He's now slashing a solid .259/.339/.438 with five homers and 18 RBI through 183 plate appearances this season.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Not in Sunday's lineup

Wade is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.comreports.

Wade will take a seat with lefty Jesus Luzardo on the mound for the Marlins. Wilmer Flores will handle first base in Sunday's series finale.

  • LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Heading to injured list

Clevinger was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with right wrist inflammation, retroactive to May 18.

The veteran right-hander was scheduled to start Monday at Minnesota but will now be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks with the wrist issue. The severity of the injury is unclear, so it remains to be seen if Clevinger will have a chance of being reinstated when first eligible in early June.

  • Darick Hall 1B | PIT

Phillies' Darick Hall: Closing in on rehab assignment

Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters before Friday's game against the Cubs that Hall (thumb) is getting close to starting a rehab assignment, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Thomson notes that Hall hasn't hit live pitching yet, but he is hitting on the field and hitting off HitTrax while also taking groundballs, running and throwing. The first baseman is on the 60-day injured list and is not eligible to return to the Phillies until the early portion of June, but a rehab assignment in the next week or so could put him on track to do just that.

  • Kody Clemens 1B | MIN

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Hits fourth home run

Clemens went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Saturday's 12-3 victory over the Cubs.

Clemens took Jameson Taillon deep in the first inning to extend Philadelphia's lead to 6-0. He walked in his next at-bat and singled in the fifth before striking out in his final two plate appearances. Saturday marked Clemens' third multi-hit game this season, which have all come in the past week. Overall, he's slashing .229/.288/.500 with four home runs and eight RBI across 20 games (52 plate appearances).

  • Joey Votto 1B | TOR

Reds' Joey Votto: Could begin rehab assignment soon

Votto (shoulder) is taking a live batting practice session with Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

The Reds and Votto will then determine the next steps for the first baseman, and it's possible that next step could be a rehab assignment. The left-handed hitter is currently on the 60-day injured list and can't be activated until May 30. If he does begin a rehab assignment in the coming days, Votto has a chance to return to the lineup at the end of May, but his timetable should begin to clear up in the coming days.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Braves' Matt Olson: Homers again Saturday

Olson went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-3 loss to Seattle.

Olson opened the scoring with the two-run shot in the first inning off Seattle starter Logan Gilbert. The Mariners would score the next seven runs, and Atlanta didn't have time to catch up. Olson has two homers and two doubles while hitting .368 (7-for-19) over his last five games. The slugger is up to 13 long balls, 34 RBI, 37 runs scored and a .243/.373/.538 slash line through 45 contests this season.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Brewers' Luke Voit: Begins rehab assignment

Voit (neck) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Saturday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Voit has been on the injured list only since Monday, so the fact that he's already ready for a rehab assignment suggests his neck strain was a minor one. The Brewers signed Darin Ruf to be a right-handed option at first base and designated hitter following Voit's injury, however, so Voit may face some competition in reclaiming his role. He failed to impress prior to landing on the injured list, slashing .221/.284/.265 with zero homers in 74 trips to the plate.
