  • Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Two doubles in first start of 2025

Aranda went 2-for-3 with two doubles Saturday against the Rockies.

Aranda was on the bench for the Rays' opening contest of the season because a lefty was on the mound, but he hit cleanup Saturday while facing righty Antonio Senzatela. He accounted for the team's only two extra-base hits before being pinch-hit for in the seventh inning with a southpaw reliever on the mound. Aranda should receive his most consistent opportunity in the majors this season, though he'll likely be on the bench against nearly all left-handed pitching.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | SD

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Multi-hit effort in win

O'Hearn went 2-for-5 with a run scored in Saturday's 9-5 win over Toronto.

After hitting a leadoff double in the fourth inning, O'Hearn eventually crossed the plate to score on a Gary Sanchez sacrifice fly. The veteran slugger has gone 4-for-13 through three games thus far this season, and O'Hearn will need to continue to produce offensively in order to prevent Heston Kjerstad from eating into his playing time at designated hitter.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Getting Saturday off

Mountcastle isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Toronto.

Mountcastle will get a day to rest Saturday after starting the season 1-for-9 with a run scored and three strikeouts through two games. Ryan O'Hearn will fill the opening at first base while Adley Rutschman works as the DH and Gary Sanchez starts at catcher.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Two more hits Friday

Torkelson went 2-for-5 with a double in Friday's 8-5, 10-inning loss to the Dodgers. He also stole a base.

Torkelson walked four times and launched a home run on Opening Day, and he followed that performance up with two more hits and his first stolen base of the season Friday. The 25-year-old isn't known for his speed, as he came into the year with only three career steals at the MLB level, but he should hit plenty of long balls if he remains in the lineup most days.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Two hits in win vs. Baltimore

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Friday against Baltimore, as the Blue Jays won 8-2.

Guerrero doubled in the third inning and was stranded there by his teammates, but he helped break the game open for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the fourth, chasing starting pitcher Charlie Morton along the way. The first baseman delivered a sacrifice fly that scored Nathan Lukes and gave the Jays a 4-2 lead, as they eventually cruised to an 8-2 win. Guerrero mashed a year ago with a .323/.396/.544 slash line and, he will hope to replicate that success as he potentially heads to free agency this winter. The superstar recently turned just 26 years old and has been a full-time major leaguer since 2019.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX

Mariners' Rowdy Tellez: On bench vs. lefty

Tellez is not in the Mariners' starting lineup against the Athletics on Friday.

Tellez will retreat to the dugout for the start of Friday's game as the Athletics send left-hander Jeffrey Springs to the mound. Donovan Solano will start at first base and bat in the seventh spot of the Mariners' batting order.

  • Seth Brown LF | ATH

Athletics' Seth Brown: Starting in left field Friday

Brown is starting in left field and batting sixth in Friday's contest versus the Mariners.

After Miguel Andujar drew the start in left field for Thursday's opener, the Athletics are turning to Brown for the second game of the series. Brown is expected to operate predominately in a reserve role this season.

  • Rays' Jonathan Aranda: On bench for Opening Day

Aranda is not in the lineup for Friday's opener against the Rockies.

The Rockies are sending left-hander Kyle Freeland to the bump, so it's not a surprise the lefty-hitting Aranda will begin the contest on the bench. He is a candidate to come in mid-game when the Rockies use a right-handed reliever, and the 26-year-old remains likely to start at first base or DH against most righties.

  • Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Two homers in season opener

Soderstrom went 2-for-3 with two solo homers in Thursday's loss to the Mariners.

Soderstrom looks set to play every day at first base and may get some playing time behind the plate as the Athletics' third catcher. He's picking up where he left off last September, when he posted an .852 OPS with two homers in 12 contests after a wrist injury in early July forced him to miss two months.

  • Astros' Christian Walker: First hit for Houston

Walker went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's game against the Mets.

Walker dealt with an oblique issue for most of spring training, but he was able to return for Opening Day. He was slotted into the cleanup spot and delivered a one-out single in the third inning to continue a key rally for the Astros. Walker should be a threat for 30 home runs while putting up strong counting stats in his first season in Houston.
