Yankees' Chris Parmelee: Placed on DL with hamstring strain

Parmelee was placed on the 15-day DL with a right hamstring strain.

Parmelee went in for an MRI after Thursday's game, but manager Joe Girardi had already said he would be shocked if the injury didn't require a stint on the DL. This takes another name out of the Yankees' jumble at first base, with Rob Refsnyder and Austin Romine more likely to get starts barring a roster move.

Yankees' Chris Parmelee: To undergo MRI, Girardi expects DL stint

Parmelee (hamstring) will go in for an MRI and manager Joe Girardi announced that he would be "shocked" if the first baseman didn't require a stint on the disabled list, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Parmelee was helped off the field by the team's training staff Thursday after suffering a right hamstring injury. His status moving forward won't become clear until the results of his MRI come back, but Girardi's comments suggest he could be heading to the DL. Rob Refsnyder, who is a converted middle infielder, has been working at first of late and could be a stopgap at that position until Mark Teixeira returns from the disabled list.

Yankees' Chris Parmelee: Leaves game with right hamstring injury

Parmelee exited Thursday's game against the Angels with a right hamstring injury.

Parmelee left the field in what looked to be extreme discomfort Thursday, which marks yet another injury at first base for the Yankees. With Mark Teixeira on the DL with a knee issue and the reserve combo of Dustin Ackley and Greg Bird out for the season, an extended absence for Parmelee would leave the Yankees even thinner at first base. A further update on Parmelee's status figures to be made available later Thursday.

Yankees' Chris Parmelee: In lineup Thursday against Angels

Parmelee is in the lineup Thursday, playing first base.

Parmelee was sensational in Wednesday's contest, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in his Yankees debut. He will be batting ninth against Jhoulys Chacin and the Angels on Thursday.

Yankees' Chris Parmelee: Puts on show in Yankee debut

Parmelee went 3-for-5 with two homers, three RBI and three runs Wednesday against the Angels.

Parmelee was called up from the minors Saturday when first baseman Mark Teixeira went on the disabled list. The pressure of playing in front of the Yankee faithful in his first start of the season didn't faze the 28-year old. Before his homers, he knocked a fourth-inning double for his first Yankees hit, later scoring on Brett Gardner's RBI single. Parmelee's performance was a night to remember for him, but it's unlikely he'll turn into a valuable fantasy asset this year.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Angels' C.J. Cron: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Cron is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.

Cron is riding a modest three-game hitting streak and is batting .267 in June, but he'll get what appears to be a regular day off Wednesday. Jefrey Marte will take over at first base in his absence and bat fifth against Nathan Eovaldi.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

Indians' Carlos Santana: Pops 10th homer in Sunday's win

Santana went 2-for-4 with two RBI including a solo shot, his 10th home run of the season, in Sunday's win over the Royals.

For the third straight season Santana has been a liability in batting average, hitting just .223 so far in 2016, but he's walking more than he's striking out for the first time since his rookie season and he remains a solid power threat. If he can stay on his current pace, Santana has a chance at his first 30 HR season.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Slugs seventh homer in Sunday's loss

Abreu went 1-for-4 with a solo shot, his seventh home run of the season, in Sunday's loss to the Tigers.

It's his first homer since May 17, but Abreu has at least started to string together some hits, going 14-for-45 (.311) over his last 11 games. He still has only three RBI and four runs scored over that stretch, however, as he's far from the only White Sox hitter having trouble producing useful fantasy numbers lately.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Angels' C.J. Cron: Out of lineup for third straight game

Cron is out of the lineup Sunday against the Pirates.

The Angels ended up going with Albert Pujols at first base for all three games of their series in Pittsburgh, but Cron should be back in lineup Monday against the Yankees, when manager Mike Scioscia will be able to deploy Pujols at his usual DH spot.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Angels' Kole Calhoun: Stays hot with multi-hit effort versus Pirates

Calhoun went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Pirates.

The 28-year-old posted his fourth multi-hit effort in his last six games, and blasted his third homer in the last five contests in the process. Calhoun has ramped up his impactful contact over the last three weeks, during which four of his six round-trippers on the season have transpired. A stellar May in which he slashed .324/.407/.438-- along with his 4-for-11 start to June-- has Calhoun's season line up to .302/.384/.455.
