  • Chris Parmelee 1B | MIA

Yankees' Chris Parmelee: Signs major league contract, recalled by Yankees

Parmelee was called up by the Yankees on Saturday.

Parmelee was added to the roster when Mark Teixeira was placed on the 15-day DL with a knee injury. With Dustin Ackley and Greg Bird also out with injuries, Parmelee could see some time starting at first base. The Yankees could also use Brian McCann or Austin Romine when they aren't catching, or let Rob Refsnyder get a chance at the position. Parmelee posted a .252 average with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 151 at-bats this season.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Angels' Kole Calhoun: Leads hit parade against Pirates

Calhoun was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs, a homer, a pair of RBI and two walks as the Angels piled it on the Pirates on Friday night.

Every starter except the pitcher (the game was played in Pittsburgh) reached base at least twice via the Angels' 15 hits and 10 walks. Six different players logged an RBI in the balanced attack.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Has double, RBI in Friday blowout loss

Abreu went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Tigers.

The 29-year-old Cuban slugger recorded his first multi-hit game of June, and drove in a run for the second consecutive game. He's also hit safely in four of his last five, but is struggling to generate a lot of impactful contact. After blasting 69 doubles and 66 homers over his first two major league seasons, Abreu has just 10 two-baggers and six homers over his first 215 at-bats of 2016.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Angels' C.J. Cron: Out of lineup Friday

Cron is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, Eric Kay of the Angels reports.

With no designated hitter available as the Angels are playing on the road against a National League team, Cron will take a seat on the bench for Friday's contest. Cron is batting .250/.306/.390 on the season and recently hit two home runs Tuesday against the Tigers.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Angels' C.J. Cron: Blasts two homers to finish solid month

Cron went 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI in Tuesday's offensive battle against the Tigers.

The first baseman finished May on a high note, breaking a 16-game homerless streak by blasting his fourth and fifth of the season. Cron's .789 OPS was more than 200 points better than his OPS from the season's first month. His value is somewhat limited because he doesn't hit for power at a position that his loaded with sluggers. However, he has a relatively high contact rate and is walking more than ever before in his MLB career, so he certainly brings something to the table in certain formats.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Hits second in the order Monday

Abreu went 1-for-4 with a single and two strikeouts in the White Sox's loss to the Mets on Monday.

The single was one of two hits allowed by Matt Harvey on Monday, while Abreu was working out of the two-hole in the White Sox's lineup for the third time this season. Sitting with a disappointing .248/.311/.391 line through 225 plate appearances, Abreu's slow start through the first two months of the season has been overshadowed by some of the league's other poor performances to date. Interestingly enough, his struggles are not tied to an increase in swings-and-misses, but instead to a surge in weak contact. Since the start of May, only 10 of Abreu's 28 hits have gone for extra bases.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Angels' Kole Calhoun: Hits fourth homer of season Sunday

Calhoun went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, three walks, two runs and a strikeout Sunday against Houston.

Calhoun remains one of the most consistent hitters in the Angels' lineup, and he did a nice job filling out the stat sheet in this game. The 28-year-old outfielder has hit safely in eight of the past 10 games, slashing .286/.362/.452 with four extra-base hits over that span.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Angels' C.J. Cron: Out of the lineup Sunday

Cron is out of the lineup Sunday against the Astros.

Cron has slumped to a 2-for-16 line over his past four games, so manager Mike Scioscia will give the 26-year-old a day off to clear his head. The lightly-used Kaleb Cowart will step in as the Angels' first baseman for the afternoon.

  • Matt McBride 1B | PHI

Athletics' Matt McBride: Optioned to Triple-A

McBride was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

The return of Josh Phegley (knee) from the DL spells the end of McBride's recent stint with the big league ball club. He'll head back down to Triple-A for more playing time after batting .222 with four strikeouts and one RBI in his 18 at-bats with the A's.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Indians' Yandy Diaz: Strong showing since promotion to Triple-A

Diaz is hitting .304/.370/.587 in 13 games since being promoted to Triple-A Columbus.

Diaz is 24 years old and not regarded as a top prospect, but the Cuban defector has continued to impress as he's moved to higher levels. He could get a chance in the majors later this summer.
