  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Heads to bench Friday

Tellez is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Red Sox.

Tellez started the last nine games but will take a seat Friday with southpaw Chris Sale on the mound for Boston. Billy McKinney will start at first base while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. serves as the designated hitter.

  • Rangers' Asdrubal Cabrera: Appealing four-game ban

Cabrera received a four-game suspension from Major League Baseball for his actions in Thursday's game against the Indians, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports. He is appealing the suspension and in the starting lineup Friday versus the White Sox.

Cabrera was ejected from Thursday's contest for throwing some equipment in the direction of an umpire after striking out, and he is now facing additional discipline from the league. The 33-year-old can continue to play until a verdict on his appeal is reached.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Heads to bench

Voit is not in the lineup for Friday's game against Houston.

Voit started the last 11 games between first base and designated hitter and posted a .325/.471/.525 slash line in that stretch. Edwin Encarnacion will take over at first base while Giancarlo Stanton will serve as the DH on Friday. Aaron Judge (oblique) makes his long-awaited return from the injured list in right field.

  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Returns from minor-league IL

Kirilloff was activated from the 7-day DL and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Thursday's game for Double-A Pensacola.

Kirilloff was on the IL with an undisclosed injury. Prior to landing on the shelf for the second time this season (he missed a month to open the year due to a minor wrist issue), the well-regarded prospect was hitting .268/.359/.402 with two homers and three stolen bases in 29 games for Double-A Pensacola.

  • Rangers' Asdrubal Cabrera: Tossed from Thursday's clash

Cabrera went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts before getting ejected from Thursday's game against the Indians for arguing balls and strikes.

Things didn't go Cabrera's way at the dish through his first three plate appearances, and he'd finally had enough after striking out for the third time. He's just 2-for-17 with a home run and two RBI over his last five games, but he'll look to regroup after blowing off some steam Thursday.

  • Rangers' Asdrubal Cabrera: Up to 11 homers

Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a home run, double, two RBI and an additional run Wednesday in the Rangers' 10-4 loss to the Indians.

The home run was Cabrera's 11th of the season, all of which have come at Globe Life Park in Arlington. He'll be in the lineup as the cleanup hitter for Thursday's series finale and should make for a quality fantasy option through the weekend with three more home games on tap against a shaky White Sox pitching staff.

  • Rowdy Tellez 1B | ATL

Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez: Goes yard twice

Tellez went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI Wednesday against the Angels.

Tellez hit his 12th and 13th homers of the season, with the highlight coming on a three-run shot off Andrew Heaney in the second frame. He's gotten regular starts for the team despite a .220/.266/.444 line through 229 plate appearances, and his playing time should remain safe with Justin Smoak (quadriceps) on the injured list. Tellez has swung the bat a bit better of late, homering three times in his past eight games.

  • Tigers' Brandon Dixon: Goes deep in loss

Dixon went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to the Pirates.

Dixon smacked his eighth home run of the season as part of a five-run third inning. The 27-year-old continues to excel, though his .352 BABIP coming into Wednesday suggests that his current .277 batting average could regress.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Reaches four times in win

Voit went 3-for-3 with a double, walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Rays.

Voit is riding a five-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 8-for-16 with a 6:4 BB:K. The 28-year-old has gone from battling for a full-time role in spring training to becoming perhaps the Yankees' most valuable hitter over the first three-plus months of the campaign. He'll head into Wednesday's series finale with a .393 on-base percentage, which ranks 13th among all qualified hitters on the season.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Lands on IL

The Rays placed Diaz (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.

Diaz had shown limited improvement in his recovery from a right hamstring injury since he last played Sunday, prompting the Rays to shut him down for at least another week. According to Tolentino, the third baseman will stay with the team to rehab, and the hope is that he'll be ready to return next week in Minnesota after a minimum stay on the shelf. Tampa Bay recalled Daniel Robertson from Triple-A Durham to restore some depth in the infield, but Joey Wendle appears to be the likelier candidate to assume Diaz's spot in the everyday lineup.
