Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE
Rangers' Kole Calhoun: Fades into reserve role
Calhoun is out of the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Marlins.
The lefty-hitting Calhoun's absence from the lineup against Marlins southpaw Trevor Rogers isn't surprising, but Calhoun also sat out the final two games of the Rangers' series with the Blue Jays over the weekend, when Toronto brought a pair of right-handed starters to the hill. With Calhoun having produced a measly .416 OPS since the All-Star break, he appears to have moved into a reserve role while the Rangers give youngster Josh Smith a look in their everyday lineup.

Ty France 1B | SD
Mariners' Ty France: Wrist acting up again
France is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta after his left wrist appeared to be bothering him while he swung the bat during Saturday's 3-1 win, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.
The wrist issue previously kept France out for four consecutive games in late July and early August, but he doesn't appear to be dealing with any sort of major setback. According to Drayer, manager Scott Servais likely just wanted to give France the opportunity to rest his wrist for two days, as the Mariners have an open date in the schedule Monday. France is still expected to rejoin the lineup Tuesday against the Padres.

Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Resting Sunday
Pasquantino is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.
Pasquantino started back-to-back games after being activated from the injured list, but he will get a chance to take it easy Sunday. Salvador Perez will serve as the designated hitter with Pasquantino opening the game on the bench.

Yuli Gurriel DH | SD
Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Posts three hits in loss
Gurriel went 3-for-4 in Saturday's 6-1 loss to the Angels.
Gurriel benefited from receiving a day off Friday. His first-inning single led to an error that generated the Astros' lone run in Saturday's contest. Gurriel had gone 11 games without a multi-hit effort, hitting just .125 in that span. His batting average has yet to exceed .250 this year after Game 1 was in the books, and it's currently at .242 with a .654 OPS, seven home runs, 43 RBI, 47 runs scored and eight stolen bases through 126 contests. Despite the poor performance, he continues to see regular playing time at first base.

Through seven games in September, Naylor has hit .310 (9-for-29) with three extra-base hits, three RBI and three runs scored. Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: No longer experiencing headaches
Rizzo (head) received a blood patch Friday, which has helped alleviate his migraines, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Rizzo received an epidural injection last week to address lower-back pain, and he was experiencing headaches in recent days. The 33-year-old rejoined the Yankees on Saturday and is expected to ramp up baseball activities. Manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that he hopes Rizzo will be able to return prior to the end of the Yankees' upcoming road trip.

Carlos Santana 1B | ARI
Mariners' Carlos Santana: Clubs two long balls
Santana went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs and three RBI during Friday's 6-4 loss to Atlanta.
Santana provided nearly all of Seattle's offense with a two-run homer in the second inning and a solo shot in the seventh, both off Atlanta starter Charlie Morton. The power surge follows a 2-for-24 stretch, but three of the 36-year-old's last four hits have left the yard. Santana has connected on 10 home runs in 56 games since joining Seattle, though he's slashing just .179/.291/.382 for his new club.

Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Could start ramping back up
Rizzo (head) will attempt to resume baseball activities soon and could start ramping back up if his headaches are gone, per MLB.com.
Rizzo has been dealing with migraines since receiving an epidural injection last week to alleviate the pain in his lower back. He was directed by doctors to rest for 48 hours before attempting to resume activities, and he's scheduled to start "moving around" Friday. If that goes well and the headaches have subsided, Rizzo could be on track to return when eligible next week.
