  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Not starting Saturday

Mountcastle isn't in the Orioles' lineup Saturday against the Diamondbacks, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Mountcastle gets a day off after going 8-for-22 with a homer, four RBI and two runs scored in his last six games. Adley Rutschman will serve as the Orioles' DH while James McCann starts behind the dish.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Sitting Saturday

Vaughn is not in Saturday's lineup against the Tigers.

Vaughn has been on a bit of a heater, slashing .301/.323/.452 with four home runs, 12 runs and 11 RBI over his last 25 games (93 at-bats). However, Gavin Sheets draws the start at first base Sunday, hitting sixth.

  • Ryan Noda 1B | BAL

Athletics' Ryan Noda: Thrives as in-game replacement

Noda entered Friday's win over the Angels as a pinch hitter in the fourth inning and remained in the game at first base, going 2-for-3 with an RBI double and a run.

The 27-year-old lined out to center in his pinch-hit appearance, but he proceeded to deliver in his final at-bat of the night with an eighth-inning double that drove in Zack Gelof. Noda now has five RBI over his last seven games and pushed his OPS back over the .800 threshold (.803) for the season with Friday's production.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

Astros' Jose Abreu: Tallies another homer

Abreu went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Friday against the Yankees.

Abreu led off the second inning with his 12th home run of the season. He continues to swing the bat well in six games since he's been activated from the injured list, tallying seven hits across 24 at-bats with two homers, seven RBI and four runs scored. He should seeing the bulk of the action at first base and has most recently been hitting fifth in the order.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Royals' Matt Beaty: Sitting versus lefty

Beaty is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Red Sox.

Beaty will take a seat as the Royals face left-hander James Paxton. Salvador Perez will slot in at first base while Freddy Fermin enters the lineup at catcher and bats fifth in the opener with Boston.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

    Twins' Donovan Solano: Sitting Friday

Solano is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Rangers.

Solano will get a breather after he went 5-for-10 with an RBI and two runs scored while starting all three games of the team's series with Cleveland. Joey Gallo will take over at first base and bat ninth in the opener with Texas.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: No lingering injury issues

Diaz went 1-for-4 with a double and a walk Wednesday against the Marlins.

Diaz has started a pair of games since returning from soreness caused by a hit by pitch. He hasn't been slowed by the issue, as he's reached base four times in 10 plate appearances since rejoining the lineup. Diaz hasn't been able to maintain the spike in power he showed at the beginning of the season, but he's maintained a .327 batting average and has racked up 79 runs scored across 113 games.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: On base once in return to action

France (wrist) went 0-for-3 with a walk in a win over the Athletics on Wednesday.

France was back in the lineup and starting at first base after being removed from Tuesday's game due to getting struck on the left wrist during a pickoff attempt. The veteran infielder was able to get on base via a free pass to push his OBP over the last 11 games to an elite .404, and his ability to play a full game seemingly corroborates he'll be unimpeded by his wrist contusion moving forward.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Guardians' Kole Calhoun: Delivers go-ahead blast

Calhoun went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Wednesday's 5-2 extra-inning win over the Twins.

Calhoun had a quiet game until the 10th inning, when he swatted his third homer of the season. All three long balls have come since Aug. 19. The veteran has seen most of his playing time at first base since he was traded from the Dodgers to the Guardians in early August. He's slashing .273/.356/.455 with 15 RBI and 13 runs scored across 87 plate appearances. Once Josh Naylor (oblique) returns, either he or Calhoun take over as the primary designated hitter, while the other would likely handle first base.

  • Ryan Noda 1B | BAL

Athletics' Ryan Noda: Multi-hit effort in loss

Noda went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a loss to the Mariners on Wednesday.

Noda continued to operate out of the leadoff spot and snapped a 1-for-14 funk with his second multi-hit effort over the last six games. The 27-year-old came within a hair of his second multi-RBI tally in that same period on his seventh-inning flyout, but Esteury Ruiz was thrown out at the plate. Despite the recent brief skid, Noda has been in productive form overall since returning from a fractured jaw Aug. 21, producing a .273 average, .809 OPS and significantly improved 19.5 percent strikeout rate over the 10 games he's played since.
