  • Astros' Jon Singleton: Sitting in series finale

Singleton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Singleton had started at first base in both of the Astros' previous two matchups with right-handed pitchers, but he'll give way to Victor Caratini while righty Ryne Nelson takes the hill for Arizona in the series finale. With an OPS of .694 since the All-Star break, Singleton hasn't done enough to fully solidify a strong-side platoon role, though he's still likely to see the majority of the starts at first base down the stretch.

  • Niko Kavadas 1B | LAA

Angels' Niko Kavadas: Idle against southpaw

Kavadas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.

The lefty-hitting Kavadas had started at designated hitter in each of the Angels' last four matchups against righties, but he'll take a seat Sunday versus Rangers southpaw Andrew Heaney. Brandon Drury will get a day out of the infield and will replace Kavadas as the club's DH.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Taking seat Sunday

Schanuel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Schanuel started the previous 11 games after missing a couple contests due to a back issue, and he'll receive Sunday off after going 5-for-40 since rejoining the lineup. Charles Leblanc will take over at first base and bat third in the series finale at Texas.

  • Justin Turner DH | CHC

Mariners' Justin Turner: Late add to lineup

Turner is starting at first base and batting fifth Sunday against the Cardinals.

The 39-year-old was poised to sit Sunday in St. Louis but will instead start the contest since Victor Robles (elbow) was scratched. Turner is off to a slow start in September, as he's gone 4-for-20 with four walks, a double, an RBI and two runs in six games.

  • Carlos Santana 1B | ARI

    Twins' Carlos Santana: Sitting Sunday

Santana (illness) is absent from Sunday's lineup against Kansas City.

Santana left in the fifth inning of Saturday's game due to an illness, and he will sit for the series finale Sunday. Jose Miranda will start at first base while Ryan Jeffers serves as the designated hitter.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Not in Sunday's lineup

Diaz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Diaz started the previous four games and will receive a day off after going 7-for16 with two homers, five RBI and three runs during that span. Jonathan Aranda will receive a start at first base in the series finale at Baltimore.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: DFA'd by Boston

The Red Sox designated Dalbec for assignment Sunday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Dalbec has been with Triple-A Worcester since June 22. Since then, he has slashed .260/.345/.475 with 11 home runs, 43 RBI and a 36.9 percent strikeout rate across 249 plate appearances with Worcester. Dalbec has hit 47 home runs for the Red Sox over the past four seasons, and if he elects to move on from the organization, he should get interest from teams looking for a lefty-hitting first baseman.

  • Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Plays defense in second rehab game

Soderstrom (wrist) started at first base and played six innings in a rehab game for Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday, going 0-for-3.

Soderstrom had the night off Friday after making his rehab-assignment debut as the designated hitter Thursday and slugging a two-run home run. The rookie took the important step of getting on the field Saturday, and he should continue ramping up his participation level in coming days with Las Vegas as he works to shake the rust from a near two-month layoff.

  • Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL

White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Goes yard early in loss

Vaughn went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Red Sox.

Vaughn opened the scoring with a first-inning homer. This was Vaughn's second multi-hit effort in the last three games, following a stretch in which he went 2-for-28 over eight contests. The first baseman is up to a .240/.295/.399 slash line with 17 homers, 62 RBI, 51 runs scored, 28 doubles and two stolen bases across 131 contests as one of the White Sox's top hitters this year.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Three hits, homer in win

Diaz went 3-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and an additional run scored in Saturday's 7-1 win over the Orioles.

Diaz led off the game with a 440-foot blast off Zach Eflin and later added an RBI single in the eighth frame. Over his past 10 games, the 33-year-old has tallied five multi-hit efforts while homering four times and driving in eight runs. On the season, he's batting .279 with 14 home runs, 64 RBI and 51 runs scored across 567 plate appearances.
