The Texans placed Hummel (groin) on injured reserve Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Hummel has not practiced since sustaining a groin injury during the Texans' Week 1 loss to the Bills. The linebacker will now miss at least four games on IR before becoming eligible to return to the team's active roster. While Hummel is absent, Jake Hansen should continue to start alongside Azeez Al-Shaair and Aiden Fisher at linebacker.

Hummel will be sidelined by a groin injury for a second consecutive week. Hummel suffered a groin injury during the third quarter of Sunday's 36-31 loss to the Bills. The linebacker is considered week-to-week as he deals with the issue, so the fact he's ruled out for Week 2 is no surprise. After being sidelined the first week of training camp, Hummel is ready to start practicing. The 26-year-old spent the first three years of his career with the Rams before signing with Baltimore in March. He has been a special-teams player throughout the majority of his career and will likely fill a similar role for the Ravens.
