  • Chargers' Charlie Kolar: Out Week 3, but avoiding IR

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday that Kolar (forearm) won't play Sunday in Buffalo but is expected to avoid placement on injured reserve, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. After undergoing surgery on his fractured left forearm Monday, Kolar had been expected to head to injured reserve and return after missing the minimum four games. However, Harbaugh noted that Kolar ended up receiving a more favorable prognosis than expected once surgery was completed, and the Chargers are now optimistic that the 27-year-old can return to action prior to their Week 7 bye. Kolar will still need to miss at least one game, and with David Njoku (fibula) still ticketed for IR, Oronde Gadsden appears likely to operate as Los Angeles' clear No. 1 tight end for Week 3.

  • Chargers' Charlie Kolar: Eyeing four-week return from surgery

Kolar plans to undergo surgery to repair a broken forearm and is hoping to return from injured reserve when first eligible for the Chargers' Week 8 game against the Rams, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. After signing a three-year, $24.3 million deal with the Chargers in March, Kolar had opened the season as the team's top blocking tight end, a key role in Mike McDaniel's offense, while contributing three receptions for 21 yards on three targets. He exited in the second half of Sunday's 26-14 loss to the Raiders due to the forearm fracture. With Kolar and David Njoku (fibula) both expected to be placed on IR within the next few days, Oronde Gadsden is likely to see a major uptick in snaps as the new No. 1 tight end on the depth chart, although fullback Alec Ingold could also see more work as well.

  • Chargers' Charlie Kolar: Ticketed for IR

Head coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday that Kolar will go on injured reserve due to a forearm injury he sustained during Sunday's 26-14 loss to the Raiders, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports. Kolar was spotted with his left arm in a sling following Sunday's loss, and the injury is severe enough for him to warrant a stint on IR. As a result, Kolar will be forced to miss at least the next four games, making him ineligible to play until Week 8 against the Rams. David Njoku (knee) is also set to go on IR, leaving Oronde Gadsden as the lone healthy tight end on the Chargers' 53-man roster for the time being.

  • Chargers' Charlie Kolar: No offensive output Week 1

Kolar played 43 snaps (30 on offense, 13 on special teams) without showing up in the box score otherwise during the Chargers' 26-14 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday. Kolar and David Njoku tied for the most offensive snaps among Chargers tight ends Sunday with Oronde Gadsden (10 snaps) a distant third. Kolar did not see a target from Justin Herbert during Sunday's loss, though that's not entirely surprising considering he posted a 10-142-2 line (on 15 targets) across 17 regular-season games with the Ravens last year. Gadsden and Njoku figure to operate as the Chargers' pass-catching tight ends this season, with Kolar more heavily involved as a blocker and in goal-line packages as an occasional red-zone threat.

  • Chargers' Charlie Kolar: Agrees to three-year deal with LAC

Kolar agreed to a three-year, $24 million contract with the Chargers on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Once Kolar's deal is made official Wednesday at the start of the new league year, he will become the league's highest-paid blocking tight end, per Garafolo. The deal includes $17 million in guaranteed money. Perhaps the Chargers also see some untapped pass-catching potential in Kolar, who had just 30 catches across four regular seasons with the Ravens while working behind Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Solid season in contract year

Kolar finished the season with 10 catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns on 15 targets over 17 games. It was a strong season from Kolar, who played in all 17 games for the first time in his career. His snap count jumped significantly, going from 230 to 402, and he posted career highs across the board in his receiving production. Though Kolar's 15 targets show that he's not necessarily a staple of the passing game, the Iowa State product has shown himself to be efficient with his opportunities throughout his career. Over four seasons (47 games), Kolar has caught 30 of 41 targets for 409 yards (9.97 YPT) and four touchdowns. Mark Andrews is set to stay in Baltimore for the long run, and now Baltimore must make a call on who to retain between Kolar and Isaiah Likely as both hit free agency this offseason.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Limited by nose injury

Kolar (nose) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice. Kolar may have picked up the injury during the Ravens' Week 17 win over the Packers, when he played 57 snaps (37 on offense, 20 on special teams) while failing to haul in his lone target from Tyler Huntley late in the third quarter. Kolar will have two more chances to log a full practice ahead of Sunday's regular-season finale against the Steelers.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Goes without target in Week 15

Kolar went without a target while playing 21 of the Ravens' 41 snaps on offense in Sunday's 24-0 win over the Bengals. Though his 51 percent offensive snap share was his highest rate since Week 3, Kolar went without a target for just the third time in 12 games on a day in which quarterback Lamar Jackson attempted just 12 passes. Kolar will have a chance at seeing more pass-game involvement on the occasions that the Ravens aren't sitting on big leads, but he'll still be third in line for targets at tight end behind Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Tallies first TD of 2025

Kolar notched a 10-yard touchdown reception on his lone target in Sunday's 30-16 win over the Bears. Though he finished third among Baltimore tight ends in playing time by taking the field for 25 of the Ravens' 62 offensive snaps (40 percent), Kolar ended up generating a better fantasy line than Mark Andrews (3-34-0) and Isaiah Likely (2-8-0) by virtue of finding paydirt for the first time this season. The Ravens should continue to make frequent use of all three of their tight ends throughout the campaign, but expect Andrews and Likely to outproduce Kolar as pass catchers more often than not.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Nabs 10-yard reception in loss

Kolar hauled in his lone target for a 10-yard reception in Sunday's 44-10 loss to the Texans. After logging at least half the snaps in each of the Ravens' first three games, Kolar has, unsurprisingly, seen his playing time trend down the past two weeks while Baltimore has welcomed fellow tight end Isaiah Likely back from a foot injury. Andrews and Likely remain the Ravens' top two options at the position, but Kolar still logged 20 of the team's 43 snaps on offense in Week 5 while Baltimore frequently deployed Likely out of the slot.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: No targets vs. Bills

Kolar was not targeted over 30 snaps in Sunday's loss to the Bills. With Isaiah Likely out, Kolar moved into a bigger role in the Baltimore offense as he was out there for 60 percent of the snaps. He played just seven fewer snaps than Mark Andrews. However, the healthy snap count did not translate into targets. Kolar helped out as a blocker, and Baltimore only threw it 19 times in total. The fourth-year tight end should have healthy snap counts while Likely is sidelined, but Sunday's outing shows that snaps won't necessarily translate into production.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Gets more opportunities in 2024

Kolar (arm) tallied nine catches on 11 targets for 131 yards and a touchdown while rushing once for two yards over 13 regular-season games in 2024. Though he played in two fewer games than the year prior, Kolar logged 14 more offensive snaps and set career-high marks in catches and receiving yards. He was also a core special-teamer for Baltimore. Kolar spent four weeks on injured reserve due to a broken forearm and suffered another arm injury during the Ravens' divisional-round loss to Buffalo, though there's no indication that the latter injury will impact his availability for the start of next season. Kolar should be back with Baltimore in 2025 for the final season of his rookie contract, but it's hard to see his role growing significantly with both Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely slated to return as well.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Questionable to return Sunday

Kolar (arm) is questionable to return to Sunday's AFC divisional-round game against the Bills, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. Kolar suffered an arm injury in the second half, forcing him to exit the game. His absence doesn't carry much of an impact on offense, and Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely continue to operate as the team's top options at tight end.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Good to go Saturday

Kolar (forearm) is active for Saturday's Week 18 matchup against Cleveland. If he gets into the game, as expected, Kolar will see his first action since he broke his forearm Week 12 against the Chargers. Prior to the injury, the third-year pro had been working as a special teams stalwart while also serving as Baltimore's third tight end behind Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Activated from injured reserve

The Ravens activated Kolar (forearm) from injured reserve Friday. Kolar remains listed as questionable, but this move would suggest he's going to play in Saturday's game against the Browns, as the Ravens are trying to hold onto the AFC North title. Kolar is recovering from a broken forearm suffered in practice ahead of Week 13, and he's missed the required four contests while on injured reserve.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Questionable for Week 18

Kolar (forearm) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Cleveland. Kolar was designated to return from injured reserve Tuesday, and he's been a full participant in practice all week. If he's activated off IR ahead of Saturday's regular-season finale, he would serve as the Ravens' No. 3 tight end behind Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely. Prior to his forearm injury, Kolar registered nine catches (on 11 targets) for 131 yards and one touchdown across 12 games.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Designated to return

Kolar (forearm) was designated to return from injured reserve Monday. Kolar has missed the Ravens' last four games after fracturing his forearm in the Week 12 win over the Chargers. However, he was designated to return Monday and now has 21 days to be added to Baltimore's active roster before reverting to IR. Kolar's practice participation throughout the week will likely offer the best insight into whether he will be able to return for the Ravens' Week 18 matchup against the Browns.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Goes on IR due to broken forearm

The Ravens placed Kolar (forearm) on injured reserve Saturday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Kolar broke his forearm in the fourth quarter of the Ravens' 30-23 win over the Chargers this past Monday. The third-year tight end will be forced to miss at least the next four regular-season games, making Week 18 against the Browns on Sunday, Jan. 5 the earliest he can return.

  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: No targets in win

Kolar was not targeted on 22 snaps Sunday against the Commanders. Kolar was unable to follow up his impressive Week 5 outing as he did not see a single target in the win. He played a similar number of snaps that he did against the Bengals and has a 27 percent snap share on the year. Baltimore uses tight-end personnel as much as any team in the league, but Kolar is still firmly behind Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely in the pecking order.
... See More ... See Less
  • Ravens' Charlie Kolar: Limited practice Wednesday

Kolar was a limited participant in practice Wednesday due to a toe injury. Kolar has emerged from this past Sunday's 41-38 overtime win over the Bengals nursing an injury. He played 21 snaps on offense and 27 on special teams in the victory, finishing the day with three catches for 64 yards and a touchdown on four targets while adding a two-yard carry. He still has two opportunities to return to full practice participation and avoid taking a designation into Sunday's game against the Commanders. Even if he's cleared in advance of Sunday, Kolar still looks to be third on the depth chart at tight end behind Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely.
