Odeyingbo had already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Falcons, and he'll now be required to miss at least the next four contests. The 27-year-old is second on the team with 3.0 sacks this season. His placement on injured reserve coupled with Montez Sweat's PED suspension is a big hit to the Bears' pass rush.

  Odeyingbo (quadriceps) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Falcons. Head coach Ben Johnson told reporters earlier in the week that Odeyingbo was considered a long shot to play in Week 6 after the sixth-year pro picked up a quad injury against the Packers in Week 5. Odeyingbo's next chance to play is Week 7 against the Patriots, although that game takes place on Thursday Night Football, so he won't have the normal full week to progress in his recovery. Daniel Hardy and James Lynch are both candidates to start opposite Austin Booker at defensive end for as long as Odeyingbo is sidelined.

  Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen noted this week that Odeyingbo (Achilles) will "definitely be in the mix" at defensive end when the Bears get to training camp, Courtney Cronin of ESPN reports. Odeyingbo was limited to eight games during the 2025 regular season after sustaining a torn Achilles Nov. 2. It remains to be seen if the 2021 second-rounder, who signed a three-year, $48 million contract with the Bears in March of 2025, is limited at the start of training camp, but barring any setbacks, the 26-year-old should be able to reclaim his key role along Chicago's defensive line ahead of Week 1. Prior to his injury, Odeyingbo had recorded 21 tackles and 1.0 sacks. The Vanderbilt product's career high in sacks came in 2023, when he recorded 8.0 sacks in 17 regular-season contests with the Colts.

He played only 173 defensive snaps in 10 games as a rookie before progressing to 518 snaps (45.5 percent), 31 tackles and five sacks in 17 games last season. He, 2021 first-rounder Kwity Paye and offseason signee Samson Ebukam project for most of Indy's DE work this year, but Odeyingbo could also get some interior snaps on passing downs, especially if he keeps his weight above 280.
