La'Mical Perine RB | PIT
Jets' La'Mical Perine: Coach promises larger role
Coach Adam Gase said Wednesday that Perine will play a larger role moving forward following the release of starting running back Le'Veon Bell, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports. "Perine's definitely going to get bigger role," Gase said. "Frank [Gore', you're not going to lean on him, because where he's at in his career. Getting Perine involved is going to be critical."
While Bell was sidelined with a hamstring injury in Weeks 2 through 4, Perine only logged 15 carries to Gore's 49, but Gase surely realizes that continuing to feed a 37-year-old running back over a fourth-round rookie is a surefire way to lose one's job when coaching an 0-5 team. While Perine's 3.7 yards per carry and two catches for minus-1 yards on the season aren't anything to write home about, he has a golden opportunity to seize the Jets' lead-back role and build his value.

Melvin Gordon RB | BAL
Broncos' Melvin Gordon: Not at practice Wednesday
Gordon (personal) didn't practice Wednesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Gordon will sit out practice after he was cited late Tuesday on charges of DUI and speeding. According to Klis, Gordon reported to team headquarters Wednesday, but after meeting with head coach Vic Fangio, the running back was sent home for the day. Gordon could face league discipline -- including a potential suspension -- down the road, but assuming he returns to practice Thursday or Friday, he'll likely be available for Sunday's game against the Patriots. After carrying the load for Denver in each of the previous three games, Gordon will likely notice at least a slight downturn in his snap and touch counts Week 6 with backfield mate Phillip Lindsay set to return from a toe injury.

Devine Ozigbo RB | DET
Jaguars' Devine Ozigbo: Designated for return
Ozigbo (hamstring) will practice Wednesday after the Jaguars designated him to return from injured reserve, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
The transaction initiates a 21-day window wherein the Jaguars will be able to evaluate Ozigbo at practice while having the option of adding him to the 53-man roster at any point during that three-week stretch. Ozigbo's hamstring injury has sidelined him through the first five weeks of the season, but when healthy, he'll offer depth behind starter James Robinson and pass-catching specialist Chris Thompson.

Broncos' Melvin Gordon: Charged with DUI
Gordon was cited Tuesday in Denver for DUI and speeding charges, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
In a statement released Wednesday, the Broncos noted that they are "aware of the situation" and are "in the process of gathering more details" pertaining to Gordon's arrest. As Renck notes, based on recent NFL precedent for DUI arrests, the running back could be facing a 2-to-3 game suspension. The report also relays that Gordon has an arraignment scheduled for Nov. 13. Following the postponement of Denver's Week 5 game against the Patriots -- which is now scheduled for Sunday -- the Broncos are slated to return to practice Wednesday. It's unclear if Gordon will participate in the session in the wake of his arrest.

Jeremy McNichols RB | WAS
Titans' Jeremy McNichols: Logs 10 touches
McNichols rushed the ball nine times for 28 yards in Week 5 against the Bills. He also added one reception for three yards.
McNichols got the opportunity to work as the Titans' change-of-pace back after Darrynton Evans exited the contest early with a hamstring injury. He didn't do all that much with that opportunity, as he averaged only 3.1 yards per carry, with his longest rush of the day going to seven yards. Depending on the severity of Evans' injury, McNichols could be the running back to keep an eye on should Derrick Henry miss any game action.

Derrick Henry RB | BAL
Titans' Derrick Henry: Two TDs in Tuesday's win
Henry registered 57 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries, adding a six-yard catch during Tuesday's 42-16 win against the Bills.
The 2019 NFL rushing champion was rather inefficient in posting a 3.0 yards-per-carry average against Buffalo's top-10 rush defense, but he did cash in with second and fourth-quarter touchdowns to help lift Tennessee to its first 4-0 start since 2008. Buffalo made things interesting with a 22-yard TD pass from Josh Allen to T.J. Yeldon with 10 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, but Henry's nine-yard TD run with 3:57 remaining reverted the Titans' lead to three possessions on the subsequent 11-play drive. He's averaging a gargantuan 25.3 carries per game heading into a Week 6 matchup against Houston's bottom-three rush defense.

Devin Singletary RB | NYG
Bills' Devin Singletary: Season-low rushing total in loss
Singletary rushed 11 times for 25 yards and caught his lone target for eight yards in Tuesday's 42-16 loss to Tennessee.
Singletary was held to a season-low yardage total on the ground, despite serving as the lead back with Zack Moss (toe) inactive for a third consecutive game. Veteran backup T.J. Yeldon ended up outplaying Singletary, with 52 rushing yards on seven carries and a receiving touchdown. The Bills' next opponent is a Chiefs team that has been vulnerable on the ground, but Singletary will face competition for carries, especially if Moss is able to return.

Qadree Ollison RB | PIT
Falcons' Qadree Ollison: Only one appearance on season
Ollison (coach's decision) did not dress with the team during Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Panthers.
Ollison totaled four rushing TDs in his rookie campaign out of Pittsburgh last year, but he has yet to see his first offense touch of 2020. The 24-year-old garnered 22 carries over eight appearances as a rookie, but it's been Brian Hill (25 rush attempts) and Ito Smith (11) who have so far benefited from the backup RB workload behind Todd Gurley. Ollison's only appearance of the season came Week 3 against the Bears, but he's otherwise been a healthy scratch in every game.

Patrick Laird RB | TB
Dolphins' Patrick Laird: Season high in offensive snaps
Laird garnered 10 offensive snaps during Sunday's 43-17 win against the 49ers, though he did not register a carry .
With Miami carrying a 30-7 lead into the second half, the 25-year-old back saw a higher-than-usual level of involvement Week 5. In fact, Laird's 10 offensive snaps were more than the eight he had between Weeks 1 and 4 combined. Laird hasn't fielded an offensive touch since recording two receptions in the season opener against New England, but with a matchup against the Jets on the Week 6 docket, he may in line for some more playing time.

Darrynton Evans RB | BUF
Titans' Darrynton Evans: Exits with hamstring injury
Evans was forced out of Tuesday's game versus the Bills with a hamstring injury, Paul Kuharsky of 104.5 The Zone Nashville reports.
Evans recorded 12 yards on two carries before exiting the game, showing impressive burst as a change-of-pace back. He was spotted on a stationary bike before halftime, so he may try to return in the third quarter. Jeremy McNichols is expected to see an uptick in usage behind Derrick Henry if Evans doesn't return.
