Jordan Wilkins RB | CLE
Colts' Jordan Wilkins: Thrives in workhorse role
Wilkins carried 20 times for 89 yards and a touchdown while turning his only target into a 24-yard catch during Sunday's 41-21 win over the Lions.
Wilkins had received just two carries over the previous two games but got more of a look in this one due to the struggles of rookie Jonathan Taylor, who generated just 31 yards on his 13 touches. He averaged a much more respectable 4.5 yards per carry and converted a one-yard touchdown a single play after Taylor was stuffed from the same distance. Nyheim Hines also scored a pair of touchdowns in this one, so the team's backfield picture has become quite unclear heading into next Sunday's tough matchup with the Ravens.

D'Andre Swift RB | CHI
Lions' D'Andre Swift: Shut down by Colts
Swift carried six times for one yard while catching three of four targets for 22 yards during Sunday's 41-21 loss to Indianapolis.
Despite somehow leading the team with six carries, Swift finished fourth in rushing yards against a tough Colts defense that entered the game allowing the fourth-fewest yards per rush attempt (3.5). While it's worth noting that Kerryon Johnson stole a receiving score, Swift's obvious struggles in pass protection suggest the rookie could see a downturn in passing-game work or even land in coach Matt Patricia's dog house. Swift at least has some upside in Week 9 against a Vikings defense allowing the third-most points per game (32.0) in 2020.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire RB | KC
Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Minor role in blowout win
Edwards-Helaire rushed six times for 21 yards and caught all three of his targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 35-9 win over the Jets.
Neither Edwards-Helaire nor Le'Veon Bell (six carries for seven yards) got anything going on the ground, as the Jets' defensive line was just about the only unit on either side of the ball to play well for the visitors. The rookie has set new career lows for carries in back-to-back weeks since Bell suited up for Kansas City, but Edwards-Helaire's lack of volume can be better attributed to the Chiefs' reluctance to give him a major workload while nursing large leads rather than a shift away from him as the team's top option on the ground. Expect Edwards-Helaire to get back on track in Week 9 against a Panthers defense that has struggled to defend running backs.

J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN
Ravens' J.K. Dobbins: Breakout day against Steelers
Dobbins registered 113 rushing yards on 15 carries, adding one catch for eight yards during Sunday's 28-24 loss to Pittsburgh.
Dobbins hadn't been handed more than nine carries in a game this season entering Sunday, but with Mark Ingram inactive (ankle), the rookie churned out more than double his previous career high in rushing yardage (48). Both Dobbins and Gus Edwards enjoyed success on the ground against Pittsburgh's stout front seven, splitting the carries 16-15 and racking up a combined 200 yards. Ingram only has two games with more than 35 rushing yards this season, but it's likely the reigning Pro Bowler regains some share of the workload once he's able to get back in the fold. That return may not come next Sunday, however, as Ingram has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain -- an injury that typically requires a multi-week recovery. Week 9 presents a challenging matchup regardless of who is shouldering the RB carries, as Baltimore heads into a showdown with the Colts' third-ranked rush defense.

Dalvin Cook RB | DAL
Vikings' Dalvin Cook: Four TDs in return
Cook carried the ball 30 times for 163 yards and three touchdowns and caught two of three targets for 63 yards and a TD in Sunday's 28-22 win over the Packers.
After missing the Week 6 game with a groin strain, Cook was able to fully recover over the Vikings' bye and accounted for all the team's scoring in a win at Lambeau Field. His biggest play of the afternoon was the one that sealed the victory, as the running back took a screen pass from Kirk Cousins late in the third quarter and navigated through the Green Bay defense for a 50-yard score, Cook's fourth TD of the day. He now has 10 rushing touchdowns, and 11 TDs in total, through six games, and he figures to pad those numbers further in Week 9 against a Lions defense that just allowed three scores to Colts running backs, plus a short rushing TD by a tight end.

Damien Harris RB | BUF
Patriots' Damien Harris: Leads offense in Week 8 loss
Harris (ankle) rushed 16 times for 102 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-21 loss to Buffalo. He wasn't targeted in the passing game.
Harris' 22-yard rushing score with 3:03 left in the third quarter got New England into the end zone for the first time, and the Patriots' ensuing two-point conversion tied the game at 14 apiece. New England ultimately came up just short on a costly Cam Newton fumble, but Harris was the only player to handle double-digit carries for the Patriots and has emerged as the team's leading backfield rushing option heading into a Week 9 date with the winless Jets.
-
Josh Jacobs RB | GB
Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Huge workload in Week 8 win
Jacobs registered 128 rushing yards on 31 carries during Sunday's 16-6 win against Cleveland.
The 2019 first-round draft choice was coming off his worst NFL rushing performance entering Week 8, as he managed just 17 yards on 10 carries the preceding Sunday against Tampa Bay's No. 1 rush defense. Jacobs may have been held to 25 or fewer receiving yards for the sixth straight game against the Browns, but his Week 8 totals established new season highs in both carries and rush yards. A matchup against the Chargers may slow down Jacobs in Las Vegas' next game, as Los Angeles has allowed just 85.8 rushing yards per contest to opposing RBs this season, surrendering an NFL-low one rushing TD to the position.

Derrick Henry RB | BAL
Titans' Derrick Henry: Gashes Bengals in loss
Henry carried 18 times for 112 yards and a touchdown while failing to haul in his only target in Sunday's 31-20 loss to the Bengals.
Henry gashed the Cincinnati front for 6.2 yards per carry while recording a long gain of 21 yards. He scored a three-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter, giving him eight touchdowns over his last five games after failing to score in his first two. Henry is also averaging 115 yards per game during that span and the only real weakness in his game comes as a pass catcher, with just seven receptions for 66 yards. With that said, he should be a strong fantasy option again next Sunday against the Bears.
-
Zack Moss RB | CIN
Bills' Zack Moss: Scores twice in Week 8 win
Moss rushed 14 times for 81 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 24-21 win over New England. He failed to catch his only target.
After Devin Singletary got the first five touches out of Buffalo's backfield, Moss subbed in late on Buffalo's opening drive and made an immediate impact. The rookie scampered for 21 yards on his first carry and opened the scoring with an eight-yard touchdown on his second. Moss scored again from four yards out in the third quarter, but he actually finished with five fewer rushing yards than Singletary on the same number of carries. With three scrimmage touchdowns in five games to Singletary's one score in eight, Moss is establishing himself as the better scoring option in Buffalo's backfield. He'll hope to build on this effort in Week 9 against the Seahawks.

Jonathan Taylor RB | IND
Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Stymied in win over Lions
Taylor carried 11 times for 22 yards and caught two of three targets for an additional nine yards during Sunday's 41-21 win over the Lions.
Taylor managed just 2.0 yards per carry against a beatable Detroit run defense and managed little with the passes sent his way as well. He received a couple of carries near the goal line but couldn't convert and watched as both Jordan Wilkins and Trey Burton capitalized on their respective opportunities, with Nyheim Hines contributing a pair of receiving scores. Fantasy managers had likely hoped Taylor came out of the bye week raring to go, but this poor performance was rather concerning given the seemingly inviting matchup and the success of the team's other options. Things will not get any easier in next Sunday's matchup with the Ravens.
