  • Anthony Brown QB | BUF

    Anthony Brown: Waived by Baltimore

The Ravens waived Brown on Tuesday, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.

Brown signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon in May, and he made a strong case for a roster spot during the preseason. He completed 35 of 47 pass attempts for 464 yards, three touchdowns and an interception while rushing five times for 22 yards, a touchdown and a fumble during preseason action. It wouldn't be surprising to see him land a spot on a team's practice squad this year.

  • Deshaun Watson QB | CLE

Browns' Deshaun Watson: Heads to reserve list

The Browns placed Watson on the reserve/suspended list Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The transaction is merely a formality, as Watson's placement on the list allows the Browns to whittle their roster down to 53 men prior to Tuesday's deadline. Though he's ineligible to make his Browns debut until Week 13 in Houston while he serves his 11-game suspension, Watson is able to return to the team's facility Oct. 10. He'll be able to resume practicing Nov. 14 and is eligible to be reinstated to the roster Nov. 28, assuming he complies with the conditions of the settlement and treatment plan that accompanied his suspension. Jacoby Brissett is on track to open the season as the Browns' starting quarterback while Watson is unavailable.

  • Logan Woodside QB | ARI

    Logan Woodside: Dismissed by Tennessee

The Titans waived Woodside on Tuesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.

Woodside was severely outmatched during his competition with Malik Willis for the top backup spot behind Ryan Tannehill, so it isn't surprising to see Woodside let go. The 2018 seventh-round pick has thrown only one pass across 11 regular season appearances.

  • Matt Barkley QB | JAC

    Matt Barkley: Released by Bills

    Buffalo released Barkley on Tuesday.

Despite outplaying Case Keenum in the Bills' preseason finale at Carolina on Friday, Barkley was the one who got the short end of the stick on the day of the NFL's 53-man roster deadline. Barkley will need to try to find another opportunity elsewhere as a free agent, and Keenum will serve as Josh Allen's backup in 2022.

  • Sam Ehlinger QB | DEN

Colts' Sam Ehlinger: Makes 53-man roster

Ehlinger has made Indy's final 53-man roster, 107.5 FM The Fan Indianapolis reports.

Ehlinger had a strong preseason by going 24-of-29 for 289 yards passing with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He improved his mechanics and revised what had been seen as a poor throwing motion. He was previously thought to be mostly a running quarterback, but his transformation this preseason has many thinking he could be in Indy's long-term plans. He'll be the No. 3 quarterback to begin the season, but could challenge Nick Foles at some point.

  • Ian Book QB | PHI

Ian Book: Waived by New Orleans

The Saints waived Book on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Book put forth his best showing of the offseason during the Saints' preseason finale, when he completed 11 of 15 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers while adding an impressive 50 rushing yards. However, the 2021 fourth-round pick ultimately faced steep odds of earning a spot behind Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton. If he goes unclaimed on waivers, Book will be a likely candidate to resurface on the practice squad.

  • Nathan Peterman: Cut by Chicago

Peterman was released by the Bears on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Peterman's departure leaves only Justin Fields and Trevor Siemian on Chicago's roster at quarterback. Rapoport adds that the team plans to add Peterman to the practice squad, so Peterman could be first in line to join the team should Fields or Siemian get hurt.

  • E.J. Perry QB | JAC

    E.J. Perry: Waived by Jags

Perry was waived by the Jaguars on Tuesday.

Perry got some action with the team in preseason, but he didn't impress enough to make the 53-man roster. Jacksonville will likely try to add the undrafted rookie out of Brown to the practice squad.

  • Will Grier QB | CAR

    Will Grier: Waived by Dallas

The Cowboys waived Grier on Tuesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Grier and Cooper Rush were competing for the top backup spot behind Dak Prescott during training camp, but neither backup will make the team's initial 53-man roster. The Cowboys are expected to bring back one of the two backups via a practice squad deal so he can operate as an emergency option on game days.

  • Cooper Rush QB | BAL

    Cooper Rush: Released by Dallas

The Cowboys released Rush on Tuesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Rush and Will Grier were competing for the top backup spot behind Dak Prescott, but it appears neither backup quarterback will have a spot on the team's initial 53-man roster. The Cowboys will likely bring back at least one of the two backups via a practice squad deal so he can operate as an emergency option during game days.
