McSorley was waived by the Cardinals on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

McSorley will fail to make the final roster for the second season in a row, with the Cardinals opting to keep Colt McCoy and Jarrett Guarantano as backup options for Kyler Murray. Per Rapoport, the quarterback is expected to join Arizona's practice squad as long as he clears waivers.

Driskel was released by the Texans on Tuesday, Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Driskel operated as the Texans' primary backup option to Davis Mills this preseason, but he will ultimately be a casualty of Tuesday's final cuts. The quarterback has proven to be an NFL-caliber backup option and will likely get another opportunity in the near future.

Garoppolo is expected to stay with the 49ers as a backup after agreeing to an amended contract, but he and the team have discussed the option of waiving his no-trade clause if something develops, ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner reports.

The no-trade clause doesn't make a trade impossible, it just means the deal needs to be agreeable to both player and team. That presumably would entail the Niners receiving compensation while Garoppolo got a starting job, which probably would only happen if a Super Bowl contender with a low-end backup QB lost its starter to injury for a prolonged period. It's not impossible, but the more likely scenario involves Garoppolo staying with the Niners as Trey Lance's backup before signing elsewhere next offseason.

The Broncos are slated to release Johnson, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.

With the move, fellow QB Brett Rypien slots in as Russell Wilson's backup, though Klis notes that the Broncos hope to re-sign Johnson to their practice squad.

The Eagles waived Strong on Monday, Glenn Erby of USA Today reports.

Strong was signed by the Eagles in April as an undrafted free agent out of Nevada, where he threw for 4,175 yards and 36 touchdowns across 12 appearances during his final collegiate campaign. However, Strong finds himself among a wave of cuts ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline after playing just 15 snaps across three exhibition games. It's odd that Philadelphia didn't give him an extended look during the preseason, so it's unclear if he'll be a practice squad candidate if he clears waivers.

The Bengals waived Browning on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

With Joe Burrow (appendix) sidelined, Browning spilt quarterback duties with Brandon Allen during the preseason, but as expected, Allen beat Browning out for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart. Browning's release suggests that Burrow should be 100 percent by Week 1, and it's also possible that the Bengals opt to sign Browning to their practice squad if he clears waivers.

The Eagles waived Sinnett on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Sinnett, an undrafted rookie free agent out of San Diego, lost the training camp battle for the backup quarterback gig to Gardner Minshew. However, per Pelissero, Sinnett is a candidate to join the Eagles' practice squad if he clears waivers.

The Vikings waived Mond on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Mond was drafted by the Vikings in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but he's failed to impress during his short time with the organization. Sean Mannion outplayed Mond during the preseason, and the team recently traded for Nick Mullens, which left Mond as the odd man out. Due to his collegiate prowess, Mond figures to at least get a look on a practice squad during the 2022 campaign.

Boyle was released by the Lions on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Boyle's tenure in Detroit will come to an end after just one season in a backup role with the team. The 27-year-old signal-caller saw the most significant playing time of his career in 2021, completing 61 of his 94 passes for 526 yards and a 3:6 TD:INT ratio over five games with three starts in place of an injured Jared Goff. However, Boyle appears to have lost out to David Blough for the Lions' No. 2 quarterback spot this preseason, and he will now likely look to land a practice-squad deal heading into the regular season.

Jimmy Garoppolo has signed a restructured one-year contract to remain with the 49ers to serve as Lance's backup to start the coming season, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

It generally was expected that Garoppolo would be playing elsewhere once the offseason dust cleared, but by amending his contract the veteran signal-caller now is slated to stay with San Francisco as a well-paid backup behind Lance. While retaining Garoppolo gives the franchise a very capable insurance policy should Lance suffer an injury, there's nothing to suggest that the 49ers' plans to start the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft have changed, with Lance's ability to contribute as a rusher giving him intriguing fantasy upside in his second campaign as a pro.
