  • Brady Cook QB | NYJ

Brady Cook: Cut loose by New York

Cook was waived by the Jets on Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Cook played in all three of the team's preseason games, completing 25 of 38 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown, while he also threw an interception. The quarterback signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent in April, and if he goes unclaimed on waivers, there's a good chance his sticks around New York as a member of the practice squad.

  • Kyle McCord QB | PHI

Kyle McCord: Let go by Philadelphia

McCord was waived by the Eagles on Tuesday.

McCord appeared in all three preseason games with the team, completing 24 of 56 passes for 191 yards and a touchdown, but he also threw two interceptions. The quarterback was selected in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and if he clears waivers, he will likely join the Eagles' practice squad ahead of the 2025 campaign.

  • Taylor Heinicke: Released by Chargers

The Chargers released Heinicke on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old becomes a free agent after losing a summer battle against Trey Lance for the backup QB job in Los Angeles. It's not a great sign for Henicke's NFL future, but he may nonetheless resurface somewhere else.

  • Cam Miller QB | LV

Cam Miller: Cut by Las Vegas

Miller was waived by the Raiders on Tuesday.

Miller played in all three preseason games, completing 20 of 37 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing an interception. With the team trading for Kenny Pickett on Monday, Miller no longer had the chance to potentially open the season as the backup quarterback behind Geno Smith. Miller will likely end up with the Raiders' practice squad if he clears waivers.

  • Sam Hartman QB | WAS

Sam Hartman: Let go by Washington

Hartman was waived by the Commanders on Tuesday, Zach Selby of the team's official website reports.

Hartman saw action in all three of Washington's preseason contests, completing 25 of 46 passes for 207 yards, but he also threw four interceptions. The 26-year-old spent the majority of the 2024 campaign on the Commanders' practice squad, and he appears to be potentially destined to rejoin their practice unit ahead of 2025.

  • Sam Ehlinger QB | DEN

Sam Ehlinger: Let go by Broncos

The Broncos cut Ehlinger on Tuesday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Ehlinger lost the backup quarterback job to Jarrett Stidham. A 2021 sixth-round pick, Ehlinger last threw a regular-season pass during the 2022 season when he played four games (three starts) and completed 63 percent of his passes for 573 yards (5.7 YPA), three touchdowns and three interceptions. He'll be a practice squad candidate.

  • Jason Bean QB | IND

Jason Bean: Let go by Indianapolis

The Colts waived Bean on Tuesday, Amanda Foster of the team's official site reports.

Bean entered training camp as the underdog against Riley Leonard for the QB3 job behind Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson. Bean didn't do much to close the gap, completing 14 of 24 passes for 144 yards, one touchdown and one interception across two games while rushing for 28 yards on six carries. Assuming he clears waivers, Bean could remain in Indianapolis as a member of the Colts' practice squad.

  • Will Grier QB | DAL

    Will Grier: Released by Cowboys

    Dallas released Grier on Tuesday.

Grier spent time on the Cowboys' and Eagles' practice squads last season, but he last logged regular-season snaps back in 2019 with the Panthers, his rookie year. He may be on the short list to re-sign with Dallas as a member of the practice squad.

  • Seth Henigan QB | JAC

Seth Henigan: Doesn't make Jags' initial roster

Jacksonville waived Henigan on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

After four collegiate seasons with Memphis, Henigan signed with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent in April. He got a good look during the preseason slate, completing 27 of 38 passes (71.1 percent) for 178 yards, though he threw two interceptions and zero touchdowns. Pelissero states that Henigan will likely join the Jaguars' practice squad if he clears waivers.

  • Browns' Shedeur Sanders: Beginning season as No. 3 option

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Tuesday that Dillon Gabriel will work as the top backup to Joe Flacco to begin the regular season, leaving Sanders in the No. 3 role, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.

Sanders wasn't able to beat out Gabriel for the No. 2 role to begin the regular season, but it's still conceivable that both rookie signal-callers get a chance to line up under center at some point during the 2025 campaign. Cleveland traded Pickett (hamstring) to the Raiders on Monday and cut Tyler Huntley on Sunday, leaving Sanders and Gabriel without further competition as depth options.
