The Panthers placed Horn (quadriceps) on injured reserve Wednesday. Horn suffered a torn quadriceps in Sunday's loss to the Browns and is expected to miss anywhere from 6-to-12 weeks. It's a brutal blow to the Carolina secondary, which will also be without Mike Jackson (groin) for at least the next four weeks after he was also placed on injured reserve Wednesday. Will Lee, Akayleb Evans and Chau Smith-Wade will handle cornerback duties moving forward.

Horn sustained a torn quadriceps during the fourth quarter of Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Browns and is expected to miss 6-to-12 weeks, Mike Kaye and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com report. Horn plans to seek a second opinion before establishing a treatment plan for the injury, which could include surgery. Regardless, the two-time Pro Bowler will be headed for injured reserve, with his loss further weakening an already depleted Carolina defensive backfield. Along with Horn, Mike Jackson (groin) exited Sunday's game with an injury, so Carolina could need to break in two new starting cornerbacks Week 4 against the Lions.

The Panthers activated Horn (foot) from the active/non-football injury list Tuesday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports. Horn was recovering from a cut on his foot and was never supposed to be sidelined for very long. The starting cornerback is back in action and ready to help the Panthers attempt to win back-to-back NFC South titles and earn a third consecutive Pro Bowl season.

General manager Dan Morgan said Wednesday that Horn (foot) is expected to come off the NFI list "in a matter of days," per the league's official site. Horn started training camp on the Panthers' active/non-football injury list after suffering a cut on one of his feet, but it sounds like it won't keep him sidelined for too long. Carolina is likely just playing things safe with its top cornerback, who is coming off his second straight Pro Bowl season.

The Panthers announced Tuesday that Horn (foot) will be placed on the non-football injury list this week in advance of training camp, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports. Horn is dealing with a recent foot laceration that required stitches, but he's expected to be cleared to retake the field early in camp. As long as the cornerback is sidelined, Akayleb Evans, Robert Rochell, Corey Thornton, Will Lee and Chau Smith-Wade could all benefit from increased reps.
