  • Ryan Johnson RP | LAA

Angels' Ryan Johnson: Scratched with illness

Johnson won't start as scheduled Sunday against the Mariners due to an illness, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Johnson's second start of the season will be pushed back since he's feeling under the weather. George Klassen will instead take the mound for the Angels in the series finale.

  • Chris Paddack SP | CIN

Marlins' Chris Paddack: Following opener Sunday

Paddack won't start as scheduled Sunday against the Yankees but is expected to follow opener Pete Fairbanks, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.

Fairbanks, who is Miami's closer, will instead start Sunday before stepping away from the club for a few days while on the paternity list. Paddack's fantasy outlook shouldn't change much as a result of the switch. He's looking for a bounce-back performance after surrendering eight runs during his season debut.

  • Pete Fairbanks RP | MIA

Marlins' Pete Fairbanks: Serving as opener Sunday

Fairbanks will start Sunday's game against the Yankees before being placed on the paternity list Monday, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.

Sunday's contest is starting in a rain delay, and Fairbanks will be used as an opener to allow him to leave the team a bit earlier and join his growing family. The right-hander should be back with the Marlins by Thursday's game versus the Reds. Calvin Faucher, Anthony Bender and Andrew Nardi are the top candidates for save chances while Fairbanks is unavailable as closer.

  • Hunter Brown SP | HOU

Astros' Hunter Brown: Lands on IL with shoulder strain

The Astros placed Brown on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right shoulder strain.

The right-hander presumably sustained the injury during his previous start versus Boston on Tuesday, when he picked up his first win of the season after striking out eight and giving up one run on a hit and two walks over six innings. Brown will be eligible to be reinstated in mid-April, but it wouldn't be surprising if a shoulder issue necessitates a longer absence. The loss of Brown is a huge loss to the Astros and fantasy managers after the right-hander opened the campaign in dominant form, allowing just one run with a 17:6 K:BB in his first two starts.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Pirates' Marcell Ozuna: Sitting amid slump

Ozuna is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles

Ozuna went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts in Saturday's contest to break a four-game hitless streak, but he'll take a seat for Sunday's series finale versus Baltimore. Bryan Reynolds will rest his legs as the designated hitter, opening up a spot in the outfield for Jake Mangum.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Not in lineup Sunday

Lewis is not starting Sunday versus Tampa Bay.

Lewis will open the game on the bench after starting Minnesota's first eight games of the campaign. He's batting just .167 so far, though he's belted two homers, collected five RBI and stolen one base. Tristan Gray is getting a start at the hot corner in Lewis' stead.

  • Juan Soto LF | NYM

Mets' Juan Soto: Sitting again Sunday

Soto (calf) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

The veteran outfielder sat out of Saturday's contest after suffering a minor strain in his right calf Friday, and he'll sit for a second consecutive game Sunday. Soto will have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery and try to avoid an IL stint.

  • Keaton Winn RP | SF

Giants' Keaton Winn: Allows run Saturday

Winn allowed one earned run on two hits and one walk while striking out one over one inning in Saturday's 9-0 loss to the Mets.

Winn entered in the seventh inning and allowed a double to the first batter he faced before later surrendering an RBI single. The 28-year-old has allowed just one run on two hits and two walks while striking out seven across four innings in four outings this season. The right-hander is a candidate for high-leverage innings in an injury-depleted bullpen behind closer Ryan Walker.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Rangers' Danny Jansen: Opening on bench Sunday

Jansen isn't in the Rangers' starting lineup Sunday versus the Reds.

Jansen started behind the plate each of Texas' past four games, and he'll get a well-deserved rest Sunday. The veteran catcher has performed well to begin the season, slashing .250/.250/.458 with a home run and six RBI through 24 plate appearances. Kyle Higashioka is behind the dish for the Rangers in Sunday's series finale.

  • Gavin Sheets 1B | SD

Padres' Gavin Sheets: Sitting second straight vs. lefty

Sheets is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Sheets sat against Boston lefty Connelly Early on Saturday and will do so again Sunday versus southpaw Ranger Suarez. Sheets' only start against a lefty came on Opening Day. The 29-year-old has a .636 OPS through 21 plate appearances this year, though he's been more productive over his past three contests, going 5-for-10 with two doubles, a steal, two RBI and three runs.
