  • Henry Davis C | PIT

Pirates' Henry Davis: Ceding work to Flores

Davis is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

After making four straight starts behind the plate from Aug. 8 through Aug. 12, Davis appears to have fallen into a timeshare with Rafael Flores. Davis has started on consecutive days just once over the past 10 games, with Flores' hot bat earning him more opportunities behind the plate as well as at first base on his non-catching days.

  • Alfredo Duno C | CIN

Reds' Alfredo Duno: On IL at Double-A

Double-A Chattanooga placed Duno on the 7-day injured list Aug. 4 due to a hamstring injury.

The 20-year-old backstop logged a .288/.397/.500 slash line with three home runs and a 16.7 percent strikeout rate in 18 games for the Lookouts before landing on the shelf.

  • Antwone Kelly RP | PIT

Pirates' Antwone Kelly: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Pirates optioned Kelly to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday.

Kelly's stint in the big leagues lasted just five days, with the right-hander tossing a scoreless inning in relief during his lone appearance in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Dodgers. The Pirates called up right-hander Khristian Curtis from Triple-A to replace Kelly in the bullpen.

  • Tyler Freeman RF | COL

Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Optioned to Triple-A

The Rockies reinstated Freeman (back) from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

The 27-year-old completed his rehab assignment with Albuquerque but will remain at Triple-A rather than rejoining Colorado's active roster. Freeman was on the shelf nearly two weeks due to the back injury.

  • Pirates' Khristian Curtis: Back in big leagues

The Pirates recalled Curtis from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday.

Curtis will join the big club for the second time this season and will provide the Pirates with a right-handed relief option who's capable of covering multiple innings. In his lone appearance during his previous stint with the Pirates back in July, Curtis struck out four batters over five scoreless innings of long relief.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Ceding work to Kelly

Amaya is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Amaya finds himself on the bench for the third time in four games while the Cubs' timeshare at catcher has tilted more in favor of Carson Kelly of late. Since tying a season high with three RBI in an Aug. 9 win over the Royals, Amaya has gone 2-for-16 with a solo home run and a 2:6 BB:K in his subsequent six games.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Drawing third start in four games

Kelly will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Mariners.

The Cubs' timeshare at catcher has been tilting in favor of Kelly lately; he'll pick up his third start Sunday in the last four games. Thus far in August, Kelly has produced a .689 OPS, 60 points ahead of Miguel Amaya's mark on the month.

  • Mickey Gasper DH | BOS

Red Sox's Mickey Gasper: On bench Sunday

Gasper is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Though he'll head to the bench while southpaw Matt Wilkinson starts for the Giants, the switch-hitting Gasper looks to have moved into a regular role as the Red Sox's designated hitter versus right-handed pitching since being recalled from Triple-A Worcester a week ago. While starting in each of Boston's last five games, Gasper went 5-for-15 with three home runs, one double, two walks, eight RBI and three runs.

  • Jahmai Jones DH | BOS

Red Sox's Jahmai Jones: Picking up first start since Aug. 8

Jones (hip) will serve as the Red Sox's designated hitter and leadoff batter in Sunday's game against the Giants.

Jones will re-enter the lineup for the first time since Aug. 8. Though he's typically been a regular part of the starting nine against left-handed pitching, Jones has seen limited playing time over the past two weeks while the Red Sox have faced a right-handed-heavy pitching schedule. Jones also missed out on starting against a lefty in Monday's win over the Diamondbacks while he dealt with hip tightness, but he cleared up any concern about his health by making a cameo off the bench two days later.

  • Yankees' Carlos Lagrange: Unlikely to make MLB debut this season

Lagrange (shoulder) has been doing well in his flat-ground throwing program, but Yankees GM Brian Cashman said in early August that it is "highly doubtful" the fireballing pitcher will throw for the big-league club this season, MLB.com reports.

Lagrange was diagnosed with a right shoulder capsular strain in early July and hasn't appeared in a game since. While the 23-year-old appears to be making progress in his recovery, it's unlikely that there's enough time left in the campaign for him to work his way back to minor-league action and then to a big-league call-up. Cashman didn't completely shut the door on that scenario, however, saying that Lagrange pitching for the Yankees this season is "possible but unlikely."
