  • Red Sox's Jahmai Jones: Enters game as pinch hitter

Jones (hip) entered Wednesday's game as a pinch hitter and finished as the designated hitter. He walked in his lone plate appearance in a 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Diamondbacks. Jones, who battled left hip tightness the previous two days, pinch hit for Mickey Gasper against a left-hander in the eighth inning. The former has been remarkably productive in a part-time role since joining Boston, going 11-for-23 with four doubles, two home runs, six RBI, three steals and eight runs scored over 15 contests.

  • Red Sox's Jahmai Jones: Day-to-day with hip injury

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said that Jones was scratched from the lineup ahead of Monday's 11-1 win over the Diamondbacks due to left hip tightness, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports. Jones had been penciled in as the Red Sox's designated hitter and leadoff hitter for the series opener, but he was removed from the lineup since his hip was preventing him from turning his swing "fully loose," according to Tracy. The skipper downplayed any major concern about the injury, and the Red Sox are expecting Jones to be available the next time they face a left-handed starting pitcher.

  • Red Sox's Jahmai Jones: Scratched from lineup

Jones was scratched from Monday's lineup in Baltimore, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. Jones is presumably dealing with some sort of injury, but the Red Sox have yet to provide details. Mickey Gasper will enter the lineup at designated hitter, and Nick Sogard will move up to the leadoff spot.

  • Red Sox's Jahmai Jones: Making first start for Boston

Jones is in the starting lineup for the first time in his tenure with Boston against Tampa Bay on Saturday. After being traded by Detroit to Boston on Wednesday, Jones will start for the first time with his new team Saturday. With Detroit, the 28-year-old slashed .137/.219/.221 with two homers and seven RBI in 105 plate appearances. Jones will bat eighth and play left field against Tampa Bay on Saturday.

  • Red Sox's Jahmai Jones: Shipped to Boston

The Red Sox acquired Jones from the Tigers on Tuesday in exchange for a player to be named later, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. The 29-year-old was designated for assignment by Detroit last week and will now make his way to Boston. Jones has excelled against lefties throughout his big-league career but has yet to get on track in 2026. Jones has a .440 OPS in 105 overall plate appearances and has a .154/.250/.256 slash line in 88 plate appearances versus southpaws. A short-side platoon role is a best-case scenario for the veteran outfielder.

  • Tigers' Jahmai Jones: Not starting against lefty

Jones is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. Though he's on the Tigers' roster primarily as a specialist against left-handed pitching, Jones will be on the bench Wednesday for a matchup with Yankees southpaw Ryan Weathers. Jones has failed to live up to his billing as a lefty masher thus far in 2026, slashing .162/.253/.270 with a 28.9 percent strikeout rate over 83 plate appearances. The 28-year-old is likely on a tight leash and could soon be in danger of being designated for assignment.

  • Tigers' Jahmai Jones: Hits first 2026 home run

Jones went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Red Sox. Jones connected for his first long ball of the season in the fifth inning against tough Boston lefty Garrett Crochet. It wasn't surprising to see Jones get the call against a southpaw, as he posted a .970 OPS in those matchups during the 2025 regular season. The outfielder is worth a look in DFS formats when he's in the lineup, but his limited role caps his value in standard fantasy leagues.

  • Tigers' Colt Keith: Idle against lefty Sunday

Keith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox. Keith will hit the bench for the third time in four games, with each of his absences coming while the Tigers have faced a left-handed starting pitcher. Jahmai Jones will take Keith's spot in the starting nine at designated hitter while Boston sends southpaw Garrett Crochet to the hill.

  • Tigers' Jahmai Jones: In Thursday's lineup

Jones (illness) will start at designated hitter and bat third in Thursday's game versus the Royals. Jones missed out on a start against a lefty Tuesday because he was battling a stomach bug, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go Thursday versus southpaw Kris Bubic. The 28-year-old slashed .288/.393/.577 with seven home runs in 122 plate appearances against left-handers last season.

  • Tigers' Jahmai Jones: Battling stomach bug

Jones is not in the Tigers' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals due to a stomach bug, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. It's bad timing, as the Tigers are facing their first lefty of the season in Cole Ragans, and Jones is on the roster almost entirely for his ability to hit southpaws. Consider him day-to-day. Gleyber Torres will be the designated hitter, and Zach McKinstry will get a start at second base Tuesday.

  • Tigers' Jahmai Jones: Collects first spring hits

Jones went 2-for-4 with a double and five RBI in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies. Jones was 0-for-10 through his first four Grapefruit League appearances, but he woke his bat up Monday. The 28-year-old outfielder spent some time with Team Korea in the World Baseball Classic, and he'll now turn his attention to a reserve role with the Tigers. Jones has been dynamite against lefties in recent seasons, which includes a .970 OPS in those matchups last year, and he should once again be a short-side platoon option and pinch-hitting specialist in 2026. His fantasy value is capped by the uneven playing time, but Jones has some real upside in the right spots.

  • Tigers' Jahmai Jones: Productive off bench Saturday

After appearing as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning, Jones went 2-for-2 with a double, a stolen base and two RBI in Saturday's 8-5 win over the Twins. He replaced Colt Keith when Minnesota turned to lefty Kody Funderburk, and Jones quickly made an impact on the game. While he doesn't see much run against righties, the outfielder has done well against southpaws this season, posting an .835 OPS across 70 at-bats. He remains a platoon option for the Tigers with fantasy value in the right matchups.

  • Tigers' Jahmai Jones: Batting leadoff Tuesday

Jones is serving as the designated hitter and batting first in Tuesday's game against the Orioles. Jones has recorded two pinch-hit appearances since having his contract selected from Triple-A Toledo on Friday and will now make his first start of the season for the Tigers. Parker Meadows, who has been batting leadoff recently, will slide down to the No. 9 spot, though that's likely due to the matchup against Baltimore lefty Cade Povich and trying to get more righties near the top of the lineup. Jones could be a sneaky DFS play Tuesday but will likely return to a bench role with less fantasy impact in the coming days.

  • Tigers' Jahmai Jones: Hits first 2025 home run

Jones blasted a pinch-hit solo home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the Cubs. Appearing off the bench in the eighth inning in place of Kerry Carpenter to face a lefty reliever, Jones delivered his first home run of the season in his first 2025 MLB at-bat. The outfielder, who was playing well for Triple-A Toledo, had his contract selected earlier Friday to provide some depth in the majors. Jones offers some degree of upside based on his minor-league performance, though he likely won't see enough regular playing time to make a huge impact.

  • Tigers' Jahmai Jones: Contract selected Friday

The Tigers selected Jones' contract from Triple-A Toledo on Friday. Jones has an .874 OPS with six homers and eight stolen bases in 52 games with Toledo this year, and he'll receive his first look in the majors of 2025. He offers some defensively versatility but isn't likely to see much playing time while up with the big club.

  • Tigers' Jahmai Jones: Blasts first spring home run

Jones went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates. Jones, who signed with the Tigers on a minor-league deal back in November, popped his first home run of the spring. The 27-year-old is competing for a bench spot in camp, and while his defensive versatility could help him earn that role, he's unlikely to be much of a fantasy factor this year.

  • Tigers' Jahmai Jones: MiLB deal from Detroit

The Tigers signed Jones to a minor-league contract Sunday that includes an invitation to spring training, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Jones, 27, has slashed just .198/.257/.278 over parts of four seasons at the big-league level. He does have a career .821 OPS at the Triple-A level and offers defensive versatility with the ability to play second base, third base and all three outfield spots.

  • Yankees' Jahmai Jones: Leading off Tuesday

Jones will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game versus the Mets. It's just the 10th start all season for Jones and the first time he's batted higher than fifth. Left-hander Jose Quintana is starting for the Mets and Jones is 7-for-20 against southpaws this season.

  • Yankees' Jahmai Jones: Getting limited opportunities

Jones has appeared in just nine games for the Yankees this season, going 1-for-6 with one run and four strikeouts. Jones has remained on the big-league roster throughout the campaign, but he's made just one start, functioning almost exclusively as a pinch runner or defensive replacement. The 26-year-old's speed and defensive versatility make him useful in those roles, though his ability to remain with the big club may be more strongly tied to the fact that he's out of minor-league options. It's difficult to envision Jones becoming a viable fantasy asset given his very limited work and his career .178/.229/.451 slash line as a major-leaguer.

  • Brewers' Jahmai Jones: Exits 40-man roster

The Brewers designated Jones for assignment Wednesday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Milwaukee needed to clear a spot on its 40-man roster after announcing the re-signing of Brandon Woodruff, and Jones ended up being the casualty. Jones, 26, has a career .460 OPS in 90 plate appearances across parts of three major-league seasons. His versatility could make him appealing to some clubs once he hits waivers.
