  • Chase DeLauter RF | CLE

Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Sitting out against left-hander

DeLauter is absent from the lineup for Monday's game in St. Louis.

The left-handed-hitting DeLauter was in the lineup each of the last three times the Guardians faced a left-hander, but he'll take a seat Monday as the Cardinals send southpaw Matthew Liberatore to the bump. Angel Martinez will start in right field and bat second for Cleveland.

  • Ryan Kreidler 3B | MIN

Twins' Ryan Kreidler: Another start versus lefty

Kreidler will start at third base and bat ninth in Monday's contest versus the Red Sox.

Kreidler has now started both games against lefties since being recalled over the weekend. He and Tristan Gray should continue to form a platoon at third base while Royce Lewis (knee) is sidelined.

  • Cubs' Moises Ballesteros: Idle against southpaw

Ballesteros is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

After a string of five consecutive starts, the left-handed-hitting Ballesteros will take a seat while the Cubs face a tough lefty (Cristopher Sanchez) in the series opener in Philadelphia. Seiya Suzuki will get a day off from playing the outfield and will step in as the Cubs' designated hitter in place of Ballesteros.

  • Ryan Johnson SP | LAA

Angels' Ryan Johnson: Exits extended spring outing

Johnson (illness) was removed from an extended spring training start Monday after tossing just two pitches, Jesus Cano of Baseball America reports.

Johnson landed on the 15-day injured list one week ago due to a viral infection. It's unclear whether he might still be feeling under the weather or if he had an unrelated setback Monday. The Angels should have an update on Johnson's condition soon.

  • Michael Busch 1B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Taking seat for second straight day

Busch is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

Though Busch broke a 0-for-30 drought at the plate a pinch-hit RBI single in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Pirates, he'll open a second straight game on the bench. With southpaw Cristopher Sanchez on the bump for the Phillies, the Cubs will add an extra right-handed bat to the lineup and deploy Carson Kelly at first base in place of the left-handed-hitting Busch.

  • Matt Pushard SP | STL

Cardinals' Matt Pushard: Cleared for rehab assignment

Pushard (knee) will head to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Pushed tossed a 20-pitch bullpen session Sunday and came out of it with no issues, clearing the way for him to pitch in rehab games. The rookie reliever is working his way back from right knee patellar tendinitis.

  • Javier Assad RP | CHC

Cubs' Javier Assad: Awarded another start

'Assad will start Monday's game against the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

Added to the rotation last week following the placements of Matthew Boyd (biceps) and Cade Horton (forearm) on the injured list, Assad acquitted himself well in his first start of 2026, tossing 5.2 scoreless innings while striking out three and allowing three baserunners in a win over the Rays. Boyd could be ready to return from the IL this weekend when first eligible, but if Assad can come through with another strong outing Monday, he may end up sticking in the rotation as the Cubs' No. 5 starter over Colin Rea.

  • Brady House 3B | WAS

Nationals' Brady House: Idle for series opener

House is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.

Over his last five starts, House has gone 2-for-20 with one walk and six strikeouts, so the Nationals will give him a chance to clear his head as the team opens a four-game set against the Pirates. Jorbit Vivas will fill in for House at third base.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Completes live BP session

Rodon (elbow/hamstring) threw a 50-pitch live batting practice session Monday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Rodon did three "ups" to simulated rest in between innings and looked sharp. The next step for the left-hander is to either throw one more live batting practice session or begin a rehab assignment. Rodon is working his way back from offseason elbow surgery and more recently hamstring tightness. If all goes well, he could be ready for his season debut around the beginning of May.

  • Trent Grisham CF | NYY

Yankees' Trent Grisham: Sitting against southpaw again

Grisham is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

The left-handed-hitting Grisham has now been withheld from the lineup for all four of the Yankees' matchups with southpaw starters this season. Randal Grichuk will replace Grisham in the outfield while the Yankees face off against Yusei Kikuchi on Monday.
