  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Getting day off Friday

Kirk is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Mariners.

It's a routine day off for Kirk, who started at catcher the last two days for the Blue Jays. Brandon Valenzuela will be behind the dish and will bat ninth in the series opener.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Sitting out Friday

Riley is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies.

Riley will take a rare day off as Atlanta kicks off its series with the Rockies. Mauricio Dubon moves over to third base and bats sixth.

  • CJ Van Eyk RP | TOR

Blue Jays' CJ Van Eyk: Recalled to big leagues

The Blue Jays recalled Van Eyk from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.

He's grabbing the roster spot vacated by Simeon Woods Richardson, who was designated for assignment. Van Eyk last pitched for Buffalo on Sunday, throwing four innings in a start, so he is rested and will give the Toronto bullpen some long relief protection.

  • Luis Garcia 1B | NYY

    Yankees' Luis Garcia: Idle Friday

Garcia is absent from Friday's lineup against the Red Sox.

With Boston sending out southpaw Patrick Sandoval, the left-handed-hitting Garcia will have the night off Friday. Paul Goldschmidt will lead off and man first base while Ben Rice bats second and acts as the designated hitter for the Yankees.

  • Blue Jays' Simeon Woods Richardson: Booted from 40-man roster

The Blue Jays designated Woods Richardson for assignment Friday.

The transaction comes one day after Woods Richardson was tagged for six runs while recording only three outs in Thursday's loss to the Royals. Because he's previously been outrighted, Woods Richardson would have the ability to elect free agency if he passes through waivers again. The 25-year-old has collected a 6.68 ERA and 40:37 K:BB over 66 innings between the Twins and Blue Jays in 2026.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Mets' Bo Bichette: Back in lineup Friday

Bichette (foot) is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros.

Bichette injured his foot during Wednesday's matchup with the Brewers, forcing him to sit out of Thursday's series finale. The 28-year-old will re-enter the starting lineup for Friday's series opener, manning the hot corner and batting third for the Mets.

  • Rays' Richie Palacios: Not in Rays' lineup

Palacios is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Padres.

Padres starting pitcher Casey Mize has reverse splits, as the right-hander has held lefties to a .564 OPS while righties have posted a .768 OPS. That explains why the lefty-swinging Palacios is sitting out in favor of righty Jorge Mateo, who will slot in at second base for the Rays.

  • Chase DeLauter RF | CLE

Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Slotted in Friday's lineup

DeLauter (hamstring) is back in the lineup for Friday's matchup with the Royals.

DeLauter, absent from the starting lineup for the previous three games, is seemingly past the worst of his hamstring issue. The 24-year-old entered the Guardians' most recent game against the Angels and contributed to a comeback win with a single in the ninth. DeLauter will act as the designated hitter and bat second for Cleveland's series opener against Kansas City.

  • Jorge Polanco DH | NYM

Mets' Jorge Polanco: Moved to 60-day IL

The Mets transferred Polanco (ankle) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Chris Devenski. Polanco had previously been ruled out for the season when it was decided earlier this month that he'd have surgery on his left ankle.

  • Chris Devenski RP | NYM

Mets' Chris Devenski: Back in majors with Mets

The Mets selected Devenski's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Devenski will join his second big-league roster this season after appearing in three games for Pittsburgh from late April to early May. In five outings with Syracuse, the 35-year-old posted a 1.23 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB over 7.1 innings. The Mets transferred Jorge Polanco (ankle) to the 60-day IL to make room on the 40-man roster for Devenski and optioned Xzavion Curry to Triple-A to open a spot in the bullpen for the veteran right-hander.
