Blaze Jordan 3B | STL
Cardinals' Blaze Jordan: Set to be sidelined for several weeks
Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said Friday that Jordan is expected to miss "several weeks" due to a left ankle sprain, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Marmol stopped short of saying that Jordan would miss the rest of the year, but it looks like the 23-year-old third baseman will be shelved until at least the final week or so of the regular season. Nolan Gorman and Thomas Saggese should both see some reps at the hot corner for as long as Jordan is on the IL.

Garrett Whitlock RP | BOS
Red Sox's Garrett Whitlock: Expected back Saturday
The Red Sox are expected to activate Whitlock (elbow) from the injured list before one of the games of Saturday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Whitlock landed on the injured list Aug. 13 with right elbow inflammation, but he's made a quick recovery and won't need to spend any time in the minors before rejoining Boston's bullpen. The 30-year-old has enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career while working as the Sox's premier setup man this year, posting a 2.05 ERA and 0.89 WHIP alongside a 49:7 K:BB across 44 innings.

Hoby Milner RP | SEA
Cubs' Hoby Milner: Placed on outright waivers
The Cubs placed Milner on outright waivers Friday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Feinsand previously reported that Milner was designated for assignment, but the 35-year-old southpaw has actually been placed on waivers, allowing another team to claim him. Milner is on the 15-day injured list after undergoing an appendectomy, but he could garner interest from a team seeking an extra left-hander for its bullpen. Milner has a 3.53 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, six holds and an 18:9 K:BB over 35.2 innings this season.

Tanner Houck SP | BOS
Red Sox's Tanner Houck: Beginning assignment Tuesday
Houck (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at the Red Sox's complex in Florida on Tuesday, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
Houck has been on the injured list all season while recovering from the hybrid UCL reconstruction procedure he underwent last August, and he has now reached the point where he's ready to test his elbow in a competitive setting. There is still a chance he makes it back before the end of the season, though the Red Sox will likely have him pitch in several minor-league games before activating him.

Athletics' Donovan Walton: Getting rest Friday
Walton isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles.
Walton has recorded a hit in six of his last seven games, but the A's will keep him on the bench to begin Friday's contest. While he sits, Jeff McNeil will cover second base and Alika Williams will start at shortstop.

Connelly Early SP | WAS
Nationals' Connelly Early: Nearing rehab assignment
Nationals manager Blake Butera said Friday that Early (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment Sept. 8, Kyle Williams of TheBanner.com reports.
Early threw a bullpen session Friday, a continuance of his throwing program as he progresses in his recovery from left elbow inflammation and forearm tightness. He'll embark on a rehab assignment in early September, so there's still a chance that the 24-year-old southpaw will pitch in the majors before the end of the 2026 season.
