Tigers' Wenceel Perez: Delivers key home run

Perez went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Royals.

Perez entered the game as a defensive replacement after Zach McKinstry exited following a collision, and the former didn't come to the plate until the eighth inning. Perez made the at-bat count, however, as the outfielder lifted his first home run of the year to break a 1-1 tie. It was a positive moment for Perez, though he still looks like a reserve option for the Tigers after getting recalled from Triple-A Toledo last week.

Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Exits after collision

McKinstry was removed from Wednesday's game against the Royals after colliding with Jac Caglianone in the seventh inning, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

A grounder to third base put McKinstry in the path of the running Caglianone, causing the former to trip and come up favoring his left leg. The severity of McKinstry's injury remains unknown, but any missed time would likely open up more opportunities for Matt Vierling and Wenceel Perez.

  • Cody Bradford RP | TEX

Rangers' Cody Bradford: Moved to 60-day IL

The Rangers transferred Bradford (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Bradford has been working his way back from an internal brace procedure and made his first rehab start April 3, but his second outing has since been delayed, and his move to the 60-day IL suggests he isn't close to returning. He'll remain sidelined until at least late May, and he'll give up his place on the 40-man roster to help make room for the promotions of Cal Quantrill and Gavin Collyer.

  • Ryan Thompson RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ryan Thompson: Produces another scoreless outing

Thompson (1-0) retired all three batters faced in a scoreless ninth inning to record the win in Wednesday's 8-5 extra-inning victory over the Orioles.

Thompson induced two groundouts and a flyout en route to his first win of 2026 and has yet to allow a run over 11 appearances (7.2 innings). The submarining right-hander has not allowed a baserunner in his last six outings.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Mets' Jorge Polanco: Achilles discomfort returns

Polanco isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers due to pain related to his Achilles bursitis, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.

Wednesday will mark the third game Polanco has missed in the past week while battling an Achilles issue that has bothered him since the regular season began. Manager Carlos Mendoza said the Mets may place the 32-year-old on the injured list, but the team will wait to see how he feels ahead of Friday's series opener against the Cubs before making a decision.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Operates as DH in return

Marte served as the designated hitter and went 1-for-5 with a run scored in Wednesday's 8-5 win over Baltimore.

Marte, who was scratched from the lineup Tuesday due to tightness in his lower back, returned to action Wednesday but not at second base. He'll get another break from playing the field Thursday, when the Diamondbacks are off.

  • Cal Quantrill SP | TEX

Rangers' Cal Quantrill: Up from Triple-A

The Rangers selected Quantrill's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Quantrill has made three starts at Round Rock so far this year and owns a 5.14 ERA and 1.07 WHIP through 14 innings. The Rangers are short on bullpen arms after losing Chris Martin (biceps) and Luis Curvelo (shoulder) to the injured list Wednesday, so Quantrill could be tapped for long-relief duties while in the majors.

  • Gavin Collyer RP | TEX

Rangers' Gavin Collyer: Selected from Triple-A

The Rangers selected Collyer's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Collyer will come up from the minors to help fill the holes in Texas' bullpen left by Chris Martin (biceps) and Luis Curvelo (shoulder). The 24-year-old Collyer has started the Triple-A season strong, giving up just two runs over 6.2 innings while striking out 11 batters and walking two. He'll be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

  • Luis Curvelo RP | TEX

Rangers' Luis Curvelo: Headed to injured list

The Rangers placed Curvelo on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder impingement, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Curvelo threw just two pitches Tuesday before leaving the game with an injury, and he's now set to miss at least the next 15 days as well. With Chris Martin (biceps) also landing on the IL on Wednesday, Gavin Collyer and Cal Quantrill will come up from the minors to fill the openings in Texas' pitching staff.

  • Chris Martin RP | TEX

Rangers' Chris Martin: Placed on injured list

The Rangers placed Martin on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a bicep injury, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Martin was pulled from his appearance Tuesday after throwing just five pitches in one-third of an inning, and he'll now be held out of action for the rest of the month after suffering a biceps injury. He'll be joined on the injured list by Luis Curvelo (shoulder), and the Rangers will bring up Gavin Collyer and Cal Quantrill from Triple-A Round Rock to round out the active roster.
