Jacob Wilson SS | ATH
Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Making return to starting nine
Wilson (finger) will start at shortstop and bat third in Sunday's game against the Rangers.
Wilson will make a quick return to the lineup after he dealt with some swelling and stiffness in his left pinky finger following a hit by pitch Friday. The young shortstop has had a couple minor injury scares thus far in August, as he also missed a start a couple weeks ago due to patellar tendinitis, and he's batting just .212 (7-for-33) on the month.

Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH
Athletics' Jeff McNeil: Sitting out against lefty
McNeil is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
The Athletics will give McNeil a day off for the series finale while the Rangers send southpaw Cody Bradford to the bump. Tommy White will draw the start at first base in place of McNeil, who has submitted a .935 OPS with three stolen bases through his first 10 games of August.
-
Hunter Goodman C | COL
Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Missing third consecutive game
Goodman (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
After being scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's 7-1 loss due to left shoulder inflammation, Goodman will wind up missing a third straight start on account of the injury. The Rockies will go with Brett Sullivan behind the plate Sunday in place of Goodman, who is being viewed as day-to-day heading into the team's three-game series with the Dodgers that begins Monday.
-
Luis Campusano C | SD
Padres' Luis Campusano: Receiving rest Sunday
Campusano is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Campusano will get a breather Sunday after he made starts at catcher and designated hitter in the first two games of the series, going 2-for-7 with two doubles, one walk and three RBI. Freddy Fermin will step in behind the dish, while Manny Machado receives a turn as the Friars' DH.
-
Jose Fermin LF | STL
Cardinals' Jose Fermin: Riding bench Sunday
Fermin is out of the lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Cubs.
Fermin will end up sitting for a second straight day after he started in each of the previous six contests while going 5-for-15 with a 6:2 BB:K, a double, three stolen bases, three RBI and one run over that stretch. Though the arrival of top prospect Joshua Baez from Triple-A Memphis will likely limit his opportunities in left field moving forward, Fermin could still have a path to playing time at third base, where he'll jockey with Blaze Jordan for starts.
-
Jared Triolo SS | PIT
Pirates' Jared Triolo: Getting leadoff chance Sunday
Triolo will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
Triolo will check into the starting nine for the fourth game in a row, but he'll receive just his third look of the season in the leadoff spot while Nick Gonzales (face) is on the bench against southpaw Patrick Sandoval. The Pirates should be able to open up regular room for Triolo in the lineup against left-handed pitching, but the slick-fielding infielder may see more sporadic opportunities versus righties so long as Gonzales makes a quick recovery from the facial contusion he suffered Friday.
-
Ronny Simon RF | PIT
Pirates' Ronny Simon: Heading to bench Sunday
Simon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
After going 1-for-7 with a run scored in the first two contests of the series, Simon will get a breather. His move to the bench will open up a spot in the outfield for Billy Cook, who will make his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Tyler Soderstrom LF | ATH
Athletics' Tyler Soderstrom: Shelved with hip impingement
The Athletics placed Soderstrom on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left hip impingement.
Soderstrom's absence from the lineup during Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Rangers was believed to be a routine rest day with a lefty (MacKenzie Gore) starting for Texas, but the young outfielder was evidently dealing with an injury. He'll be eligible for reinstatement Aug. 25, but given the Athletics' place in the standings, Soderstrom may not be rushed back from the shelf. The Athletics recalled infielder Darell Hernaiz from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding transaction.
-
Darell Hernaiz SS | ATH
Athletics' Darell Hernaiz: Moving up from Triple-A
The Athletics recalled Hernaiz from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday. He'll start at third base and bat ninth in the Athletics' series finale versus the Rangers.
Hernaiz will be up with the Athletics for the third time this season after slashing .237/.318/.288 with one home run, three stolen bases, seven RBI and 12 runs in 134 plate appearances between the prior two stints. The Athletics placed Tyler Soderstrom (hip) on the 10-day injured list to clear a spot on the active roster for Hernaiz, who is likely to serve in a depth role in the infield and is expected to receive most of his playing time versus left-handed pitching.

Willy Adames SS | SF
Giants' Willy Adames: Remaining out Sunday
Adames (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Adames will sit for a third consecutive game after he tweaked his back while attempting to turn a double play during Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Astros. With Adames on the bench, the Giants will open up starts on the left side of the infield for Christian Koss and Buddy Kennedy.
