Gilbert was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
It's unknown why Gilbert was taken out of the lineup, but the Giants should offer an explanation in the near future. In the meantime, Jonah Cox will start in center field and bat fourth.
