Freeman isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants.

Freeman will get a chance to regroup Saturday after turning in just a .522 OPS in 45 plate appearances while starting each of the Dodgers' last 10 games. Enrique Hernandez will start at first base and bat eighth while Freeman sits.

The White Sox recalled Romo from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.

Romo will rejoin the White Sox for their final two regular-season games as the replacement for Jake Rogers, who went on the paternity list Saturday. Romo owns a .527 OPS through 203 MLB plate appearances this year and will act as a depth piece behind Kyle Teel.

Rogers will step away from the team for its final couple of regular-season games as he welcomes a new addition to his family, but he'll be back by the time the White Sox begin their postseason run. Until then, Drew Romo will come up from Triple-A to provide depth at catcher.

Edwards (thumb) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta.

Edwards will miss a sixth consecutive game Saturday as he continues to recover from a thumb injury he aggravated last week. Jared Serna will start at second base again and bat ninth; meanwhile, Edwards will have just one more opportunity to play again this year before the season ends Sunday.

Hayes isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.

Hayes will move out of the starting lineup Saturday after going just 2-for-31 since returning from the injured list Sept. 7. Juan Brito will replace him at the hot corner and bat eighth.

The Twins placed Hoffman on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right forearm inflammation, Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com reports.

Hoffman's forearm injury will cause his season to end a few days early, and he'll finish the year with a 3.55 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 66 innings between Toronto and Minnesota. He also recorded six saves and a career-high 22 holds. His roster spot will be given to Kaelen Culpepper (hamstring), who was reinstated from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move.

The Twins reinstated Culpepper (hamstring) from the injured list Saturday, Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com reports.

Culpepper landed on the injured list Sept. 16 with a strained left hamstring, but a minimum-length absence will allow him to return in time to play in the Twins' final two games of the year. Jeff Hoffman (forearm) was placed on the 15-day IL in a corresponding move.

The Pirates optioned Dotel to Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

After giving up two runs (one earned) in three innings Friday, Dotel will be cast out of the Pirates' bullpen in favor of a fresh arm in the form of Hunter Barco. Dotel will finish the MLB season with a 4.46 ERA and 1.37 WHIP alongside a 41:16 K:BB over 42.1 innings.

The Pirates recalled Barco from Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Barco has given up 15 earned runs in just 17.2 major-league innings this season, but he'll return to the Pirates' bullpen nonetheless to help the team get through its final two regular-season contests. Wilber Dotel was optioned to Indianapolis in a corresponding move.

Young isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.

Young will get some rest Saturday after going 2-for-4 during a win in Friday's series opener. While he sits, Daylen Lile, Dylan Crews and James Wood will start across the outfield.
